Picture Day:
If you have some free time on Tuesday, March 19th between 9:30 a.m.- 2 p.m., it's BMP Spring Picture Day we could use some volunteers!
Volunteers assist with collecting forms and lining up students for their class and individual photos. If you are interested in volunteering, please email, Sandra Chetelat at sfchetelat@fcps.edu
Career Day:
BMP is hosting a Career Day on June 6th from 2:15 - 3:30 and we are looking for presenters! On Career Day, presenters will share information with our grades 3-5 students about their careers. Our goal is to have a variety of fields represented in order to give students an opportunity to envision themselves in different professions.
Presenters will share in three, 20-minute rotations:
- training requirements of their occupation
- satisfactions and dissatisfactions of their job
- school skills used in their job
- what a typical day might include
- related jobs to their career field
- anything else that they feel students might be interested in!
If you are interested in presenting, please fill out this google form or email Kristin Feathers at kmfeathers@fcps.edu.
If you haven’t already, please take FCPS’ Family Engagement Survey today! Survey results will help us to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our school community. Survey topics include:

We are branching out in our critical and creative thinking lessons focus on Plus, Minus, Interesting. The PMI strategy encourages students to think about many possibilities, and to explore the positive and negative aspects of ideas or activities. PMI encourages students to develop the habit of looking beyond the polarity of “yes or no,” “wrong or right,” “my answer or your answer.” The goal of PMI is to develop independent thinkers who consider a range of ideas and/or possibilities and see beyond the obvious. The “interesting” category can also include questions.
At Home Connection: This strategy works well when discussing books, events, family trips, musical instruments or any other ideas that can be considered through the lens of pluses, minuses, and interesting aspects. For example, your child is trying to decide which musical instrument to play. Together you make a chart of the plus, minus, and interesting aspects of each instrument that they are considering. Often the interesting column leads to insights that will help them make a decision. Have students read and record their thinking using this strategy. After completing this task snare a picture and share it with me at yfwilliams@fcps.e
yfwilliams@fcps.edu
I can’t wait to see your creations!
Michelle Domingo, Physical Education
This is my 14th year teaching PE at BMP. I’m originally from upstate New York where I spent my early childhood years before moving to Mechanicsville, Virginia. I graduated from George Mason University which is where I met my husband. We have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. My daughter will be a 1st grader at BMP this school year. 😊
In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family, finding new sports/activities to try out, swimming, traveling, holiday baking, and making costumes for my kids.
