Principal's Message

Keene Mill Families,

Throughout the year, as we celebrate and recognize various cultural holidays and observances, families are encouraged to contact us regarding accommodations, including but not limited to those around lunch, prayer/meditation and silent reflection spaces and times, and instruction.

On Monday, March 18, you will be sent an email containing a link to complete the online FCPS Principal Evaluation Staff Feedback Form. This questionnaire is part of the VDOE-mandated Performance Evaluation Program and offers staff an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include how the principal demonstrates/impacts instructional leadership, school climate, human resources leadership, organizational management, communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, professionalism within the school, and student academic progress.

The questionnaire will be administered between March 18 and April 5. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. All written responses will be shared with both Principal Peace and Region Assistant Superintendent. Your feedback matters!

In closing, attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Our school will host our annual Kindergarten Orientation, April 2 from 3pm-4pm. This is an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teachers and other members of the Keene Mill staff.  Eligible children can register now and throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan, so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school. No registration will be completed at the kindergarten orientation.

Remember daylight savings is this weekend. Have an amazing weekend!

Solar Eclipse

A total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, 2024, and will be viewable, depending on weather, in the Fairfax County area. In our area, the eclipse will begin around 2:04 p.m. and end around 4:32 p.m., with the maximum eclipse occurring around 3:20 p.m. This timing overlaps with some dismissal times and it is crucial that schools reiterate the importance of safe viewing practices.
