Principal Evaluation Form for Mr. Blount

Dear GBW Families,

On Monday March 18, you will be sent an email containing a link to complete the online FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form.  This questionnaire is part of the VDOE-mandated Performance Evaluation Program and offers families an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include questions about how the principal demonstrates/impacts instructional leadership, school climate, human resources leadership, organizational management, communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, professionalism within the school, and student academic progress.

The questionnaire will be administered between March 18 and April 5. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. All written responses will be shared with me and the Region 5 Administrative team.  I know each of you are very busy, and it will be challenging to find time to complete one more survey for FCPS.  So please know how much I appreciate you taking time to make this a priority.

As a principal, I am constantly striving to be my best for our students, our teachers, our families, and our GBW community by reflecting on my principal leadership and improving my craft based on real data (like this survey data).  By completing this survey, you can help me to better understand areas of my leadership that are going well and other areas where I can grow.  My promise is that I will take time to carefully read your feedback, reflect on this feedback, and make plans for how I can better serve our students, our teachers, our families, and our GBW community.

Thank you so much for your time, and let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Andrew Blount

Principal

P.S. Please note this survey is different from the Family Engagement Survey that you may have taken 1-2 weeks ago.  So sorry for all the survey emails, and thanks again for your feedback.

One School One Book Program Coming in May

The One School One Book program has been postponed until the first week in May.  There was a reprinting situation from the publisher that caused our order to not meet the deadline for planned kick off date.  If you ordered a book for your child we have them and will hold on to them until May.  Sorry for any inconvenience .

techstravaganza

Techstravaganza is a free, public, hands-on STEM activity fair for elementary and middle school students in Northern Virginia. In previous years, we've hosted more than 4,500 students and 70 labs presenting STEM activities. Our exhibitors range from TJHSST clubs and our own TWIST volunteers to organizations like NASA SCaN, Art of Problem Solving, George Mason University, American Society of Naval Engineers, and the National Air and Space Museum. This year, we will be holding the 20th annual Techstravaganza on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 10 AM to 4 PM at TJHSST. Admission is free, food will be for sale, and we hope you will join us in spreading the word throughout our community.

Our registration link is as follows: https://tinyurl.com/techstrav24.
