Did You Know...
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) released a study showing smoking cannabis is associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The study found that that daily use of cannabis, predominately through smoking, was associated with a 25% increased likelihood of heart attack and a 42% increased likelihood of stroke when compared to non-use of the drug. Here is the full release from NIH.
APPLY TO THE COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM!
Any student between grades 8 and 11 is eligible to apply to the College Partnership Program (CPP). This program is designed to support students interested in exploring, applying to, and enrolling in college. In accordance with FCPS' goal to eliminate gaps in opportunity, access, and achievement for all students, CPP focuses on academic advising, college visits, family engagement, and preparation beyond high school. CPP was created to systematically mitigate the impact of barriers to access and opportunity, and support students who are from populations that are historically underrepresented on college campuses (including those who are the first in their family to attend college in the U.S., economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and English language learners) but all students are encouraged to apply.
