Hello all,

Our Assistant Principal, Ms. Lisa O’Donovan and her family will be relocating to lovely Chapin, SC in June. This will be Lisa’s last year at Wolftrap.

During her time at Wolftrap, Lisa has been an invaluable member of our leadership team. Her expertise in handling discipline matters with thoughtfulness and fairness has been a tremendous asset. More importantly, her warm nature and ability to build relationships with both students and families have created a welcoming and supportive school environment. Her "lunch bunch" sessions have been a huge hit with our kids! Additionally, Lisa provided critical support as we transitioned from my time as Assistant Principal to Principal. While we will greatly miss her presence at Wolftrap, I know this relocation is an exciting opportunity for Lisa and her family. We wish her all the best in this next chapter.

To ensure a smooth transition, FCPS will move forward with a job posting to fill the Assistant Principal position. We will keep you updated on further developments in the coming months. In the meantime, please express your gratitude and offer your well wishes to Lisa before she departs in June.

A reminder that, throughout the year, as we celebrate and recognize various cultural holidays and observances, families are encouraged to contact me regarding accommodations, including but not limited to those around lunch, prayer/meditation and silent reflection spaces and times, and instruction.

Our best to you,

Dr. Maggie Grove, Principal
Ms. Lisa O’Donovan, Assistant Principal

VIRTUAL GATHERING FOR MILITARY CONNECTED FAMILIES: Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) values the unique experiences and perspectives of our military-connected families and students.

Family and School Partnerships invites military-connected parents and guardians to attend a special virtual gathering to connect directly with FCPS staff and community members, learn about valuable resources, and share their experiences within FCPS.

This interactive session will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 7-8 p.m. Please register for this event to receive the Zoom link and meeting invitation.

For more information about the gathering and/or military-connected resources, please email Meredith Ayala, Family Partnerships Specialist, Military-Connected Youth & Families, at mlayala1@fcps.edu or militaryfamilies@fcps.edu.

FCPS FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SURVEY OPENS MARCH 3RD. Parents/caregivers will receive the survey link via email from independent research firm K12 Insight. Please participate — your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve practices to best support our students.

Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and your school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, better social skills and behavior, and an increased likelihood of graduating high school. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and will be available in 10 languages. Your voice matters!

Please contact Azita Behdad, our family liaison at abehdad@fcps.edu  for more information.

HELP FOR A FELLOW FCPS SCHOOL: **We have been supporting an FCPS school throughout this year. We have recently heard from the principal that homelessness is up 40% since last year. The school collects grocery gift cards to support families, and they need $25 Safeway gift cards. Safeway is within walking distance to the school community, so those cards are best. There is a Safeway in Fairfax and one in McLean, for purchasing cards. If you can help, please bring gift cards to the Wolftrap office. We will continue this effort over the next couple of weeks. THANK YOU!
