As Black History Month comes to an end, we would like to spotlight one of our Newington Forest staff members.
Meet Mrs. Tonja Walden, an incredible member of our Newington Forest team and a direct descendant of the legendary Frederick Douglass! 🌟
In this special video, Mrs. Walden shares their personal journey, weaving together the rich tapestry of their family history with their passion for reading. Their connection to Frederick Douglass adds a profound depth to our team, reminding us of the enduring legacy of resilience and leadership.
👏 Let's celebrate Mrs. Walden's remarkable heritage and the valuable perspectives they bring to our community!
The Fairfax County Board of Elections requested that schools be closed on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the safe and efficient administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.
March 5th will be a holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day for teachers.
There are still a few tickets left for this event. If you are interested in participating, please return all order forms and money by Monday, March 4th.
It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!
Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Registering your child early helps us plan, so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. To get the process started, please complete our New Student Intake Form.
💜 Purple Up! on April 17 to Support Military Families
April is Month of the Military Child. Join our community and turn FCPS purple on Purple Up! Day, Wednesday, April 17. Wear purple in recognition of FCPS’ 14,000 enrolled military-connected students.
Purple Up! T-shirts are available for purchase through Friday, March 8.
Ramadan
Throughout the year, as we celebrate and recognize various cultural holidays and observances, families are encouraged to contact their schools principal regarding accommodations, including but not limited to those around lunch, prayer/meditation and silent reflection spaces and times, and instruction.
Miss Angela Thompson has created a Google form for parents to communicate accommodation requests for Ramadan. Please find the form at https://forms.gle/mpzsz5GSFo2ebETj7.
FCPS Cares is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story so we can all acknowledge the good work of our Newington Forest staff members. |
