Students shared projects at the STEAM fair last night.

From the Desk of the Principal:

As I walk around the school each day, I am delighted to witness the vibrant energy and enthusiasm our students bring to every classroom. From the engaging discussions to the collaborative projects, it's evident that our students are finding joy in learning, discovery, and connections with their classmates. At Louise Archer, we believe that education is more than just academics—it's about fostering a love for learning and creating memorable experiences that spark curiosity and inspire growth.

In every classroom, students are embracing the joy of learning as they explore new concepts, ask questions, and engage in hands-on activities that ignite their imagination. Whether they're conducting science experiments, writing stories, or solving math problems, our students approach each challenge with enthusiasm and determination. Beyond academics, they're also finding joy in the connections they form with their classmates—sharing stories, collaborating on projects, and supporting one another through every success and setback.

As we near the end of the third quarter, I am filled with anticipation to see the continued growth and achievements of our students as they explore new learning in the fourth quarter.

Announcements

Construction Update

Phase 2 of the renovation is almost complete. We are excited to share that the third grade classes and specialists who have been in the modular and quad spaces will be moving into the building. Our new specialist and technology wings will open when students return after spring break. The front office area will temporarily be relocated to a space in the new building. We will send out details to our families right before we return on April 3rd with information on how to locate the office and how students will enter/exit a slightly different way.

FCPS Family Engagement Survey

You should have received the FCPS’ Family Engagement Survey on March 3rd, from independent research firm K12 Insight. Please participate — your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve practices to best support our students.Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and our school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, better social skills and behavior, and an increased likelihood of graduating high school. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and will be available in 10 languages. Please visit the Family Engagement Survey webpage for more information. Your voice matters!

Arrival and Dismissal Safety Reminders

It is a busy place around Louise Archer during arrival and dismissal each day and it is a priority for all of us to make sure our students are safe during this time. There are many students walking and cars driving around Louise Archer and on Nutley Street. Please help us by monitoring your surroundings and adhering to the directions of our crossing guard, our school staff, and all road signs. Students and adults should only be crossing Nutley Street at the designated crosswalks. Please do not park across the street and motion your child across.  We have had several near accidents in this congested area. In addition, drivers should not be texting or using cell phones during kiss and ride, in the parking lots, or while driving because it presents a safety concern. Please help us keep all of our students safe by using caution and maintaining a focus on the roads and students during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your support with these school safety reminders!

Reminders

Dismissal Changes:

Please make sure your student knows how they are getting home before they leave for school.  If it is a change from the normal route, send a note in with your student. Teachers are being inundated with emails during the day referencing how their student is getting home.  This is disruptive to instruction to deliver messages during the day.  Please plan playdates the day beforeEach student should bring in a written note from their parent when going to a friend’s home or bring home a friend.  If there is an emergency change of plans, please email the teacher.  If you do not hear back from the teacher by 3pm, please call the main office, 703-937-6200.  The office will call into the classroom at 3:30pm with any changes.  This will minimize interruptions.
