On Monday, March 18, Kings Park ES parents/guardians will be sent an email containing a link to complete the online FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form. This questionnaire is part of the VDOE-mandated Performance Evaluation Program for principals and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include how the principal demonstrates/impacts instructional leadership, school climate, management, communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, and professionalism within the school.

The questionnaire will be administered between March 18 and April 5. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your feedback matters!

Meet Me at the Library, March 7th

We are excited to be partnering with WETA and hosting our next Meet Me at the Library event for the 23-24 school year!  This event is a  great opportunity for families to listen to stories, play some games, and participate in activities to promote literacy, math skills, and problem solving skills.  On Thursday, March 7th, families are invited to the Kings Park Public Library (9000 Burke Lake Rd, Burke, VA 22015) at 5:00 PM for an hour-long session focusing on Technology and Problem Solving with some amazing Kings Park teachers and staff.

This workshop provides tools for teaching young children to embrace computational thinking skills and early coding skills.This is a free event for Kings Park students.  Every student that attends will receive a free book from WETA.   We hope to see you in the Community Meeting Room at the Kings Park Public Library on Thursday, March 7th at 5:00!

STEAM Night, March 14th

Join us for STEAM Night, March 14th 5:00-6:30pm in the Kings Park Cafeteria. We will be showcasing the hands on STEAM and Strategies Lab activities students have been participating in from kindergarten to 3rd grade this year. The activities students have engaged in have aligned to

Kindergarten Orientation, March 20th

We are excited to welcome our rising Kindergarteners for the 2024-2025 school year. Kindergarten Orientation for incoming kindergarten students and their parents will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:30pm.

Details are in the works and more info to come. Please save the date and mark your calendars! If you have a child who will be age 5 on or before September 30, 2019, then it is time to register your child for the 2024-2025 school year. 

We request that you begin the registration process as soon as possible.

Family Engagement Survey

The Family Engagement survey is designated to gather data to further inform implementation of the 2023-30 Strategic Plan. Nine language translations of the survey will be made available, including Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashtu, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. Families can access the link through their computer, phones, or hard copies as requested from the school.

Elementary Institute for the Arts

Students in all FCPS schools can enroll in the Elementary Institute for the Arts. IFTA is a weekly Arts enrichment program for students in rising 3rd through 6th grades during the month of July. Students take classes in Art, Music, Theatre, and Dance every day. Transportation is provided from around the county. Tuition assistance is available for students who qualify. Snack Donations

We are continuing to accept bulk packs of individual serving snack donations such as Goldfish, Pretzels, Pirates Booty, Popcorn, Teddy Grahams, Fruit Bars, Granola Bars, Cereal Bars, Applesauce Pouches etc.. These can be labeled Attention: School Counselor.

Kings Park Get to Green Crayon Initiative

Kings Park’s Get2Green team is excited to announce that our school is joining The Crayon Initiative.  We encourage families to send in any broken or unwanted crayons from home.  Your child’s teacher will then help students deposit the crayons into collection boxes we have around the school.  All the crayons we collect will be sent to the Crayon Initiative, melted down and turned into new, paperless crayons.  The new crayons are then donated to children in hospitals all over the country.

PTA News

Thak you to Erin Farrell-Kendrick, Meghan Walker, and Yaisiel Torres who were elecnted at our PTA GMM last week to be on the nominating committee for the 2024-25 PTA Board.  During the meeting, we also voted to amend our budget, given our huge fundraising success.  Please reach out to board@kpkgpta.org if you are interested in learning more about being involved with the PTA.

Our next Spirit Night is taking place on March 19th at Wendy’s (6056 Burke Commons Rd). In-person or drive-thru orders only - must bring or show flier.

  • Lake Braddock Spring Sports Kickoff - The Lake Braddock Athletic Leadership class is hosting a Spring Sports Kickoff on March 12th from 5-7PM on the blacktop. If you want to attend the sports games baseball, soccer, softball or tennis. FREE ENTRY for elementary students wearing school spiritwear, as adults will still need to pay $5 entry to go to any of the varsity games happening.
