PTA Read-a-Thon - March 17-30

Olde Creek is getting a bit...old. As our school ages, there will be a greater need for things like new cafeteria tables, a new sign, and other capital improvements. The OCES PTA will be hosting a read-a-thon fundraiser to help raise money for these capital improvements for the school. In support of Read Across America this month, kids can raise money by reading books and getting per-page pledges or flat donations from family and friends.

Registration: Online only. Registration opens March 8th. A flyer with a QR code and URL will be sent home March 8th. After registering, each child will have their URL and webpage to design and share! Pledges and donations are all done online.

Read-a-thon Dates: March 17-30, 2024. Hopefully, kids will be motivated to read during Spring Break!

Logistics: Kids can update their total pages read online with help from their parents, or they can turn in a "Pages Read" sheet to their teachers on Friday, March 15 and Monday, April 1.

Prizes: Classes that raise $500 or more will receive a popsicle party!

This 60 minute show is a fun and dynamic adventure presented by the Woodson Theatre Arts class. This performance takes place in the Woodson Auditorium (entrance 18).

The Last Firefly description: The fantastic story of Boom and Crash, the children of Thunder, is a mythical adventure about discovering one's inner strength. After being forced out of their home at the hand of a cruel stepfather, Boom sets out on a journey of self-discovery where battles against the forces of nature are courageously fought.

Recommended for grades 2nd and above - because it contains mild theatrical violence and scenes of action that may frighten younger children.

Here Comes the Bus

Want to know if your child's bus is on schedule or where the bus is? Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use website and app that enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus — almost in real time — on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.

Parents can track multiple buses if their children don’t all ride the same bus; know exactly when children arrive at school or the bus stop; and receive customized text and/or email notifications about bus locations, schedule changes, or delays.

To get started, download the app from the Apple iOS or Android app store. Check out the Here Comes the Bus and Frequently Asked Questions webpages for more information.

Already using the Here Comes the Bus app? Send your feedback to HCTB@fcps.edu.

Note: eNotify text messaging will continue to be used for reporting bus delays and bus incidents.
