February 28 Family Newsletter

Good afternoon,

As we step into the month of March, we are excited for the wonderful happenings at Union Mill - our Staff vs. 6th grade volleyball game, first grade's 3 Piggy Opera, Kindergarten's Book Character Parade and Family Fitness!  With spring on the horizon, our school community is buzzing with energy and enthusiasm for learning, growth and creativity - just ask our 3rd grade Bears about their edible soil!

As as reminder, Tuesday, March 5th is a student holiday due to many schools being used as polling centers. Our staff will be engaged in professional learning with one another to continue to support students and families at Union Mill.

Sincerely,

Dominic, Jaime and Scott

Walking Between Buses

As a reminder, when dropping students off in the morning or picking students up in the afternoon, please utilize sidewalks. Students and families should not be walking between busses as it creates a safety hazard. Thank you for your support to ensure a safe arrival and dismissal.

Black History Month

ab

During February Union Mill celebrated Black History Month in a wide variety of ways including highlighting books and leaders on the morning announcements, read alouds in classrooms and various displays around the Union Mill.

Family Engagement Survey

Fairfax County Public Schools will administer the third Family Engagement Survey from Sunday, March 3 - Friday, March 22.  This survey will help the school division better recognize, understand, respect and address family strengths and needs in our school community.  By participating in the Family Engagement Survey, parents/guardians will be making their voices heard on important topics impacting their students' success.

Email invitations with unique survey links will be send directly from K12 Insight to all adults who are connected to a student in SIS.  All responses are confidential and no personally identifiable information will be shared with school or district staff.
