Ms. G

WSES teacher, Gunjan Sapkota, is the Fairfax Pyramid Outstanding New Teacher winner!

Dear Willow Springs Families,

We are now midway through the 3rd quarter and Spring Break is just around the corner. Our students are really blossoming and showing how much they have learned and can do. We all know how to work hard and how to find joy in each day. Ask your students what happens every Friday morning during arrival or what they see in the lobby that makes them laugh or smile. As them what is exciting them about their learning at WSES. They should have a lot to say!

Don't forget that students do NOT have school next Tuesday, March 5th due to the Virginia presidential primary.

We wish all of you a wonderful weekend. Thank you for sending us your best every day! #WillowPride

✅ Look for the FCPS Family Engagement Survey

This Sunday, March 3rd, parents/caregivers will receive the FCPS’ Family Engagement Survey from independent research firm K12 Insight. Please participate — your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve practices to best support our students. Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and our school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, better social skills and behavior, and an increased likelihood of graduating high school. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and will be available in 10 languages. Please visit the Family Engagement Survey webpage for more information.

Spring SOL Testing Dates

for Grades 3-6

Every spring, students across the state of Virginia in grades 3-12 take Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess their learning. Elementary school students take reading and math tests starting in 3rd grade and continuing every year through 6th grade. In addition, 5th grade students take a science test. The expectation from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is that all students in grades 3-12 will participate in SOL testing every spring. Testing begins in May and is completed in June.
