Hollin Meadows News and Updates for the Week of Feb. 26

second graders

These second graders are waiting excitedly for the start of our weekly School-wide Community Meeting. All students begin their day on Tuesday or Thursday with a 20-minute Community Meeting. During the meeting students participate in a greeting, sharing, activity, and announcements. The purpose of the meeting is to build connections within and across grades and have fun! It’s a great way to start the day!

A Note From Mr. Gates

I hope this finds you well. It is hard to believe that we are quickly making our way towards the end of February.  We have a busy March ahead so make sure you keep up to date with your child's classroom teacher  upcoming events and activities. A few highlights from the past week:

  • Thursday, the fourth graders went on a field trip to the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. They had a fantastic time exploring and learning.
  • A huge congratulations to our very own kindergarten teacher, Evelyn Ransom who has been recognized as the West Potomac Pyramid's Outstanding Elementary Teacher for 2023-2024. This is a well-deserved honor for someone who consistently goes above and beyond to support our students and staff. We are incredibly proud to have Evelyn as part of our Hollin Meadows school family. She will go on to the Regional level to be recognized for her achievements.

We are looking forward to our Multicultural Fair on Saturday, March 9 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. See below for a schedule of student performances and information on how you can share your culture. We look forward to seeing everyone!

As always, thank you for your continued support of all things Hollin Meadows. Here's to a wonderful week ahead!

Sincerely,

Jon Gates
