February 29 Fun Run
We are so excited about our 2024 Cameron Cheetah Fun Run Program! We are getting closer and closer to reaching our $5,000 Goal for an Outdoor Classroom, as today we have $3,690, but we need your help! Here is how you can help us reach our goal:
If you are a parent/guardian of a Cameron Cheetah:
-
Register on mybooster.com tonight. It’s so easy! Once you get to the website, follow the instructions to register as a ‘Parent/Guardian’ for your student.
-
Share about our fundraiser with your family and friends using the SHARE BUTTON on mybooster.com.
-
Give a donation if you are able.
If you are a relative of a Cameron Cheetah
- Each student has their own link when they sign up. Reach out to the parent/guardian for their link and follow the instructions to make a donation for that specific student.
- If you would like to donate to the Cameron Cheetah General Page, CLICK HERE and follow the simple steps.

📚March 1 Begins Read Across America Week!
Read Across America is a nationwide reading program that celebrates the joy of reading and young readers in the U.S. This year at Cameron, we encourage you to join us as we spend the month of March celebrating our Cheetah readers.
Learn more about Read Across America Week.
Students will participate in a Spirit Week March 4th-8th to celebrates different types of stories:
Monday
|
Sci Fi: Dress out of this world with aliens, spaceships, stars, or planets
|
Tuesday
|
NO SCHOOL
|
Wednesday
|
Silly Stories: Wear a silly hairstyle, socks, a hat, or sunglasses
|
Thursday
|
Diverse Stories: Dress in traditional clothing or country colors
(and come as a family to tonight’s Celebration of Cultures!)
|
Friday
|
Biographies: Dress as an important person from history or today
|
Cheetah readers are also invited to take the Read Across America Challenge and read 50 books OR 500 minutes during the month of March. Use the attached US map to track their reading by coloring in one state for every book or 10 minutes read. Turn in maps to classroom teachers on Monday, April 1st. Go to https://bit.ly/RAAmap to access Cameron’s RAA Interactive Map with book suggestions and videos for each state.
Going somewhere fun for spring break? Staying local? Students are invited to participate in our RAA Picture Showcase by submitting a picture of them reading over the spring break. Their reading picture will be displayed in the building for all to see. Please email your picture to Mrs. Migs (jtmigliorini@fcps.edu) or bring in a physical copy after the break.
We look forward to creating and celebrating a nation of diverse readers through our Read Across America celebration!
Join us on March 7 for our annual Celebration of Cultures event! This event will be hosted in the cafeteria and gym from 6-8pm.
March 8 Spring Picture Day
March 8th is Spring Picture Day! Barksdale Portraits will be at Cameron to take individual pictures and a picture of our full 6th grade graduating class (no class or sibling photos will be taken). The order access code on the website is 0036633SG.
Check Up On Attendance
How has your child’s attendance been so far? If you are unsure, ask the school. Students who miss too much school are at risk academically, that is because:
-
Absences add up to lost learning.
-
Missing school Becomes a habit.
-
Students who are frequently absent in the early grades are less likely to do well in middle and high school.
It is not too late to get your student back on track for a strong year and school career.
