SRO Appreciation Photo Collage

We were lucky to have Officer Sehrer visit from Frost Middle School this week! He connected with students and staff, showing off his rock-paper-scissors skills and bringing smiles with fist bumps. Not only is Officer Sehrer a familiar face around Little Run and Frost, but he was also recently recognized by FCPD as December's Officer of the Month! Thank you, Officer Sehrer, for all you do to keep our school community safe and positive. We appreciate you! 🚓

PreSchool Photo Collage

Look at these bright smiles and imagine the echoes of laughter! Our preschoolers are busy exploring and engaging in a world of wonder at various learning centers. From creating masterpieces to reading a good book, each day brings new opportunities for discovery and growth. A huge shout-out to our dedicated preschool team who nurture these young minds with creativity, love, and endless enthusiasm. They make learning an adventure! ✨

Military Kids Club Meeting Photo collage

We're excited to announce the launch of our new Military Kids Club, a space for our young heroes to connect, share experiences, and build friendships! This month's inaugural meeting included a delicious cereal bar that fueled conversations amongst our club members. We can't wait for future gatherings featuring guest speakers, "Scoops for Troops" fun, and much more! A special shout-out to Ms. Sutton, our dedicated school counselor, for spearheading this initiative. At Little Run, we're committed to fostering a sense of belonging and celebrating the daily sacrifices of our military-connected families. ❤️

SACC Halftime dance performance photos

Little Run SACC stars took center court during the George Mason Men's Basketball halftime show! Our talented dancers joined forces with students from other SACC programs, putting on a dazzling performance that had the crowd cheering. We're so proud of their hard work, dedication, and school spirit!

SACC Halftime Dance Collage

Little Run SACC brought their "A" game to the George Mason Men's Basketball halftime show, dazzling the crowd with their coordinated dance routine! This incredible performance wouldn't have been possible without the tireless efforts and unwavering support of our dedicated SACC teachers, who nurtured the students' talent and guided them every step of the way. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to the families and staff who came out to cheer on our young stars! Your presence meant the world to them.

CCT lessons in 2nd grade

Look at these proud faces and creative constructions! Our second graders are diving deep into the world of Critical and Creative Thinking (CCT) with Ms. Hitchcock. Ms. Hitchcock's engaging lessons foster collaborative learning and spark curiosity through hands-on activities like building. In these photos, students are putting their problem-solving skills to the test, collaborating on designs, and celebrating their accomplishments. We are so grateful for Ms. Hitchcock's dedication to inspiring young minds and fostering a love for learning! ✨

Dear Little Run Family,

As another week at Little Run draws to a close, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for each and every member of our incredible school community.

To our students, your enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication to learning bring joy and purpose to our school. We are constantly amazed by your talents, your kindness, and your willingness to grow. Watching you learn and explore is a true privilege.

To our remarkable staff, your tireless dedication, commitment to excellence, and genuine care for our students is truly inspiring. You are the backbone of Little Run, providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for all our learners.

To our supportive families, your partnership is invaluable. Thank you for your continued trust, collaboration, and active participation in your children's education. We are grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to working together to make Little Run the best it can be.

This week, we were particularly impressed by all of the students, staff, and families who attended the Mason basketball game on Wednesday night to cheer on our talented SACC dancers. It exemplified the spirit and values that make Little Run such a special place.

We look forward to another successful week ahead, filled with exciting learning opportunities, meaningful connections, and shared experiences.

Sincerely,

Christie Yarn, Principal

Lesley Hassen, Assistant Principal

The Positivity Project at Little Run

Positivity Project Logo

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Love of Learning. Love of learning means you master new topics on your own or in school.

Those with a love of learning are intrinsically motivated and engaged in a topic regardless of achieving an external standard. They enjoy learning simply for the sake of learning. They don’t need a prize of a high grade as a reward. Their reward is the process of doing the work and improving.

Developing a love of learning is highly beneficial for an individual. It means that they are intrinsically motivated to deepen their existing skills and abilities, or learn something completely new. Since intrinsically motivated action is correlated with positive emotions, those who act on their love of learning may also have enhanced mental and physical health. Additionally, individuals who love learning have the desire and ability to overcome challenges, due to a sense of autonomy and control over their environment.

To practice and encourage the character strength of love of learning with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
