Black History Month

During Black History Month KPES has been intentional in engaging all students around the remarkable contributions of Black individuals to our society and culture. From individual classrooms to schoolwide opportunities in the library, music room and beyond; students have engaged in rich conversations and lessons that feature important contributions. In addition, our schoolwide news show has played an active role in spotlighting influential figures in Black history, sharing their stories and contributions to various fields.

A HUGE thank you to our KP families for supporting Cub Council’s annual Food Drive. We collected over 1,100 pounds of food for ECHO!!!  Thank you so much for your generosity! To learn more about ECHO click here.

Snack Donations

We are continuing to accept bulk packs of individual serving snack donations such as Goldfish, Pretzels, Pirates Booty, Popcorn, Teddy Grahams, Fruit Bars, Granola Bars, Cereal Bars, Applesauce Pouches etc.. These can be labeled Attention: School Counselor.

Meet Me at the Library - March 7th

We are excited to be partnering with WETA and hosting our next Meet Me at the Library event for the 23-24 school year!  This event is a  great opportunity for families to listen to stories, play some games, and participate in activities to promote literacy, math skills, and problem solving skills.  On Thursday, March 7th, families are invited to the Kings Park Public Library (9000 Burke Lake Rd, Burke, VA 22015) at 5:00 PM for an hour-long session focusing on Technology and Problem Solving with some amazing Kings Park teachers and staff.

This workshop provides tools for teaching young children to embrace computational thinking skills and early coding skills.This is a free event for Kings Park students.  Every student that attends will receive a free book from WETA.   We hope to see you in the Community Meeting Room at the Kings Park Public Library on Thursday, March 7th at 5:00!

STEAM Night, March 14th

Join us for STEAM Night, March 14th 5:00-6:30pm in the Kings Park Cafeteria. We will be showcasing the hands on STEAM and Strategies Lab activities students have been participating in from kindergarten to 3rd grade this year. The activities students have engaged in have aligned to

Kindergarten Orientation, March 20th

We are excited to welcome our rising Kindergarteners for the 2024-2025 school year. Kindergarten Orientation for incoming kindergarten students and their parents will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:30pm.

Details are in the works and more info to come. Please save the date and mark your calendars! If you have a child who will be age 5 on or before September 30, 2019, then it is time to register your child for the 2024-2025 school year. 

We request that you begin the registration process as soon as possible.

Kings Park Get to Green Crayon Initiative

Kings Park’s Get2Green team is excited to announce that our school is joining The Crayon Initiative.  We encourage families to send in any broken or unwanted crayons from home.  Your child’s teacher will then help students deposit the crayons into collection boxes we have around the school.  All the crayons we collect will be sent to the Crayon Initiative, melted down and turned into new, paperless crayons.  The new crayons are then donated to children in hospitals all over the country.

FCPS Tech Adventures Camp Registration Open

These camps are a summer enrichment and exploratory program in career and technical education for students in grades K - 5.Current Kindergarten - grade 5 students explore STEAM, culinary, health, trades, business, and marketing by rotating through daily classes. PTA News

We are looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming PTA General Membership Meeting on Thursday, February 29 at 6PM on zoom.  Come hear updates from the principals and the PTA Board, and elect the nominating committee that will help find the officers for the next school year.  We’ll also discuss and vote on an updated budget.  More information here and on Facebook.

  • Lake Braddock Spring Sports Kickoff - The Lake Braddock Athletic Leadership class is hosting a Spring Sports Kickoff on March 12th from 5-7PM on the blacktop. If you want to attend the sports games baseball, soccer, softball or tennis. FREE ENTRY for elementary students wearing school spiritwear, as adults will still need to pay $5 entry to go to any of the varsity games happening.
