Weekly update for February 23, 2024
Dear CES friends and families:
It was wonderful to see so many of you at last night's CES Family STEAM Night! I'd like to especially thank each and every teacher and staff of CES for planning, creating, and delivering fun and engaging STEAM activities for families. I would also like to thank the PTA and business sponsors for their wonderful support in many ways to make this event possible. Finally, thank you to the STEAM Night co-leads Ms. Stone, Ms. Goodwin, Ms. Lemak and Ms. Dumont, and the entire Family Engagement Staff Committee!

Read-a-thon
We are excited for the upcoming Read-a-thon that will take place March 4-10th. Students will read and catalog their time on paper forms or online for a chance to win a gift card to the spring book fair. Be on the look out for additional details coming soon!

Hello, Columbia families and friends!
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child’s art. There are over 50 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts, and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child’s order form or search for your child’s artwork by name. Then, have fun shopping!

Paper order forms with online order codes will be sent home with your child next week, but you can go ahead and view their artwork and place orders at the link above. All orders are due by Friday, March 15th. Also feel free to share your child’s code with extended family and friends. Family Engagement Survey to Open March 3
FCPS is partnering with independent research firm K12 Insight to administer a Family Engagement Survey, which will be open from Sunday, March 3, to Friday, March 22. Your feedback is critical in helping FCPS to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs throughout the district. Survey topics include:
- Welcoming environment
- Communication
- Student success
- Advocacy
- Family and school partnerships
- Community partnerships
The survey will be available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
Parents/caregivers will receive the survey link via email from K12 Insight. A public link will also be posted on FCPS’ website. Paper surveys will be available in our front office. Please stay tuned for more information.
