Presidents Day

 

Presidents Day is Monday
NO School

All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 19, for the Presidents Day holiday. Classes will resume at the normal time on Tuesday, February 20.

Presidents Day is a time to honor and remember the birthdays and achievements of the country's most distinguished leaders, and to reflect on the role of the president in shaping the nation’s history and development.

Herndon ES Lost and Found is Overflowing!

Herndon ES Families,

Our lost and found is overflowing and getting larger each day.  If these items are not picked up, they will be donated. 

Please take a moment to check if your child is missing coats, hats, lunch boxes, hoodies, etc.

Our teachers have been bringing their classes by the lost and found but keep in mind, many students do not recognize their belongings.  For the future, please clearly label them.

Parents are welcome to stop by the school office, sign in, and check the lost and found area which is in the main hallway. 

Office Hours:

Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Our hardworking staff's snack cart is running low, and what better way to show our appreciation than with a delicious pick-me-up?

Black History Month

February is Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Learn more about Black History month. Learn more about Black History Month here.

Black History Month Celebration

Fairfax County’s Black History Month Celebration will be held on Friday, February 23, at 5:30 p.m., at the Government Center(12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax). This year’s theme is The Value of Telling Our Stories. It will include performances, activities, discussion, and light refreshments.

Celebrate and Honor Black History Month With Fairfax County Public Library including "A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School" Sunday, Feb. 25, 2 p.m. Alden Theatre (1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean) Carlotta Walls LaNier, youngest member of the Little Rock Nine was a key protagonist in one of the most gripping watershed moments of the Civil Rights Movement. She delivers powerful keynotes that reflect on history while inspiring hope for the future. Registration to attend is required.  Register and learn more here.
