This is a friendly reminder that all schools in FCPS are closed on Monday, February 19th in celebration of President's Day. We look forward to welcoming our Mustangs back on Tuesday, February 20th when we open our doors at 8:35 AM.

We are excited to announce that once again the Scripps National Spelling Bee is returning to McNair Upper ES. Each of these events will be held during the school day. On Friday, February 23rd, we will be holding the Classroom Spelling Bee. The winner(s) of this event from each class will advance to the Schoolwide Spelling Bee, which will be held on Monday, March 4th. Both Bees are closed door events and parents are not allowed to attend.
Attached to this email you will find the following materials. Please review them carefully as they have valuable information about the Bee, how it works, FAQs, and word lists.
All McNair Upper ES students are eligible to participate in this event. If you would like to opt your child(ren) out of the Classroom Spelling Bee, please email me at cmcredle@fcps.edu.

Pre-registration for a Community Conversation is not required but will help FCPS plan. Childcare and interpretation services will be provided for all events based on staff availability. Events are open to all. Learn about other opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.
We would love your help in keeping our teacher planning space stocked with individually wrapped healthy snack foods, beverages, and a few sweet treats for our awesome staff as a way to keep them energized as they educate and support our Mustangs.

Lights, Action, Family Fun: Join Us for Movie Night!

Cost: $15 per family
Grab a seat, grab a slice, and let the movie magic begin! Join us for a cozy indoor family movie night filled with laughter, love, and food. Bring a blanket, sleeping bag, pillows, etc. to sit on.
Pizza, chips, soda, and juice boxes will be available for pre-order or on-site purchase. **(on-site is cash only)**
**Children must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian in order to attend and the parent/legal guardian must stay with their child(ren) at all times. No drop offs**

Student Scholarship:
- Students eligible for the Free Meal program can also apply for the Club Scholarship. PTA offers a 50% discount on the club fee, with the remaining 50% to be covered by the Parent/Guardian/Club Sponsor.
- PTA can award a scholarship to one student per season.
- PTA has the capacity to grant scholarships to two students per club.
