Good afternoon, Franklin Community,

We had a wonderful week celebrating kindness!  Students and staff did an amazing job with their participation in our spirit week, particularly with our “cupid shuffle” in which our staff dressed like students and students as staff!  In addition to our fun spirit week, we also enjoyed delivering candy grams to students and the conclusion of our student volleyball tournament during Falcon Time.  The week was a great reminder to all students and staff about how special this Franklin community truly is and the care we show each other everyday.  It was also a way to ground ourselves back in our tier 1 Falcons CARE behavior matrix, which highlights and celebrates the behaviors we wish for all students to exhibit each day.

This week we also had the opportunity to celebrate Officer Jim Smith for SRO Appreciation Day on Thursday!  We are so grateful for not only his role in keeping us safe each day, but also his commitment to building positive relationships with our students and staff.

Lastly, we have several student successes to share!  Our Robotics team of Kaichen and Hayden came home with yet another award this past weekend at the Robots at the Mall tournament!  Also, a huge congratulations to Raiyan Saaim, Noelle Eunhae Moon, Nihira Gole and Jamie Choi for their Regional Scholastic Art awards!  We are so proud of the many talents of our students here at Franklin Middle School!

I wish you all a wonderful long weekend and, as always, please reach out to me at MLCase@fcps.edu with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Michelle Case

Interim Principal

February Is Career and Technical Education Month

By enrolling in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course or program, students learn the technical applications of many occupations while preparing for higher education or entry-level employment.  A core program of CTE courses is offered in every middle and high school including Business and Information Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, Marketing, Technology and Engineering Education, and Trade and Industrial Education.  Since this is an elective, course offerings may vary by school.  Learn more on the CTE website

CTE also offers summer programs for students to explore their programs.  Enroll now!

Understanding High School Mathematics Course Offerings

How can students participate in mathematics throughout high school in a way that is relevant to and supportive of post-secondary and career interests?

During this session we will discuss mathematics graduation requirements and how to support students in navigating the various course offerings currently available in FCPS.

Students and their families may start thinking about what course pathways are available beginning in middle school.  On March 8 from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM, there is a webinar to review mathematics courses. Join us to learn more.

Presented by Jennifer Allard FCPS High School Math Specialist and Erin Sylves FCPS Math Specialist.
