Samsung Solve for Tomorrow State Finalists!

Students in Mr. Piccione’s Engineering Systems 2 class were State Finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest.  Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is “a nationwide competition that empowers students in grades 6–12 to harness the power of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to create innovative solutions addressing critical issues in their local communities.”  Together, this impressive group of student engineers worked to develop solutions for an incoming freshman to make his hospital bed work better in a school environment.  They were awarded $2,500 worth of computers and tablets for their classroom. Congratulations on your recognition!

Students in our Systems Tech and Exploring IT classes prepared laptops in partnership with Computers for Family Literacy, an organization that provides computers to families who don't have the resources to acquire their own.

Our Exploring Health Science students visited the INOVA Advanced Surgical Technology and Education Center (ASTEC), where they were able to participate in a variety of advanced surgery simulations.

We had a very cool visitor at the Academy this week!  Cayson of the US Park Police Horse Mounted Unit visited with Officer Leonas, who spoke to our Criminal Justice students to share about the important work that he and Cayson do.

Teachers for Tomorrow students created ideal classroom models and vision boards to show what their classrooms would look like.  The future of education is bright with these teachers in training!

Laissez les bons temps rouler!  Culinary Arts created a Mardi Gras themed menu for Dinner Done this week.  These delicious cheddar biscuits accompanied gumbo and blackened chicken étouffée.

February is CTE Month!  Join us in celebrating our Career and Technical Education students, staff, and programs throughout the month.  Students are encouraged to dress in something that represents their program every Friday in February (class or CTSO t-shirt, uniform, scrubs, etc).  Be sure to follow us on Instagram @chantillystemacademy to learn more about our CTE programs and see what’s happening in our classrooms!
