For Parents Only

Parent Presentation on Trends in the Drug Culture; February 29, 2024

Many challenges and responsibilities come with being a parent, and having to address a difficult topic with your child, such as drug culture, trends and identifying signs of substance use, can be stressful. Drugs and drug paraphernalia is now being disguised as common everyday items out in plain sight, to go unrecognized by parents or other adults.  Substance Abuse Prevention Program want to provide you with information so you will be able to recognize drugs and drug paraphernalia and also the signs of drug use to equip you to have real and meaningful dialog with your child concerning these issues.

Join us on February 29th, 2024 @ 6:00pm at Edison High School where we will be hosting a parent presentation to provide information on the trends in drug culture. After the presentation there will be time to ask questions or to receive more information. The trends in drug culture have created innovative ways to hook your child and we are here to arm you by providing information concerning these topics that will assist in effective communication with your child.  Also, a Narcan Training with be provided by a member of the Community Services Board.

P.E. News -- Bike Safety

In March, our P.E. classes will be focusing on bike safety. Some students will have the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike, while others will learn about important bike safety practices while building on their bike riding skills.  If students ride their bikes to and from school, they can use their own bikes for this unit.  Students are encouraged to bring in their own bike helmets, if they have them, to use on their designated P.E. days. This will ensure a comfortable and properly fitted helmet.  For students borrowing a helmet from the school, they will need to wear the required hair caps during the unit to maintain hygiene standards. Don't worry! Our helmets will be cleaned after each use.  If preferred, students may bring in a baseball hat or bandana from home to wear under the borrowed helmet instead of a hair cap.  Students must wear close-toed shoes to participate in the bike unit.  No crocs or sandals are allowed.  This unit will take place outside and students will be going out unless it is raining.  The morning classes could get chilly, please dress appropriately!

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!  Thank you for your partnership!
