january panther of the month students

January Panther of the Month Students - These students were chosen by their teachers for exhibiting our Stone PRO expectations of Being Prepared, Being Responsible and Being On Time.

Hello Stone Panther Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you well celebrating President's Day. This week is  bursting with activities and spirit as we celebrate  our Stone Panthers!

This Tuesday, we will have the pleasure of celebrating the hard work and dedication of our students who achieved straight A's in the 2nd quarter. Congratulations to each of these scholars for their outstanding academic performance. We applaud your commitment to excellence, and we look forward to recognizing and celebrating your achievements. Parents are able to log in virtually to see the program.

Tuesday evening, please join me in a discussion about Stone’s mission and vision which are our guiding beliefs that shape our school's future. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are in the process of revising our school's mission and vision. We value your input and would like to invite you to this month’s PTSA meeting where you can share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. Your perspective is invaluable as we work together to shape the future direction of our school.

Date: Tuesday, February 20th

Time: 7pm

Location: Library at Stone Middle School

Your involvement is crucial in ensuring that our mission and vision reflect the values and aspirations of our entire school community. We appreciate your dedication to Stone and look forward to collaborating with you on this important endeavor.

We are thrilled to support our Stone  basketball teams as they compete this week against the Liberty Lions. To ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone, we kindly ask all attendees to adhere to the following behavior expectations:

  • Respect all players, coaches, officials, and fellow spectators.
  • Cheer in a positive and sportsmanlike manner.
  • Refrain from negative comments or behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by disposing of trash appropriately.
  • Please do not jump on the bleacher seats.
  • No food or drink other than water in the gym (as our gym needs to be ready for youth leagues on Saturday morning).

We want to continue to create an atmosphere that fosters sportsmanship and community spirit. Our PTA will be hosting a 50/50 raffle during the games and our Leadership students will be selling spirit items at the game. Concessions will be available in the cafeteria but must be consumed in the cafeteria. We will have performances by our dance and jazz teams as well. Please join us!

Finally, just a reminder that Fairfax County Public Schools had a change in the original academic calendar for the school year. Students will now have a student holiday on March 5th, 2024 due to the presidential primaries and the use of school buildings on this date. Please mark your calendars as this was a change from the original academic calendar published in August. The odd/even day calendar will not change, refer to schoology for more information.

Let’s have a great week Panthers!

🧠Eating Disorder Parent Information

According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA 2023),

Eating disorders are serious but treatable mental and physical illnesses that can affect people of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, body shapes, and weights. In the United States, 28.8 million Americans will suffer from an eating disorder at some point in their lives.

There is no single cause of an eating disorder. Rather, it is a complex combination of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors that converge and set off an individual’s predisposed genetic vulnerability.

In collaboration with the Fairfax County Health Department, FCPS has developed a web page with detailed information and resources about eating disorders.  To find out more, please visit the FCPS Eating Disorders website.

In addition to the information on the FCPS website, the National Eating Disorders Association has a toll free, confidential Helpline, 1-800-931-2237.
