The Principals' POSITIVE Press

Happy Friday CES Community,

We had another POSITIVE week filled with several POSITIVE events! Tuesday, after we started with a 2-hour delay, we concluded the day with the POSITIVE 2nd Annual Family Folk Dance. The Folk Dance was a POSITIVE night filled with fun, laughter, and some amazing dance moves! Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Tiesler, and the 6th grade dancers did a POSITIVE job of creating an atmosphere that was welcoming to all who attended. Last night, the POSITIVE 4th Grade Strings shared a wonderful performance. It is amazing to see the POSITIVE progress these young musicians continue to make under the POSITIVE leadership of Ms. Henry.

Please join me in congratulating the POSITIVE CES staff members that were nominated for the FCPS Honor Awards.

Kindergarten Orientation will be offered on:

Tuesday, June 4 from 9:30am – 12pm.

The Orientation is for registered families only. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This will be an opportunity for you and your child to meet the teachers, take a bus ride, and learn more about the school.  Staff will review the curriculum and discuss transition into Kindergarten.

If you know anyone who has a rising kindergartener, please encourage them to begin registration as soon as possible. Notifying our office of your intent to register or complete registration helps our school secure staffing for the upcoming school year.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact our Registrar, Jenny Kim, at jhkim4@fcps.edu or call 703-502-3501.

SPRING SEL Screener

The Spring Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener will be administered to students in grades 3-6 between February 26-March 15. Students use the SEL Screener twice a year to share their perspectives on how well their school and community help them develop skills they need to succeed. The screener works by asking questions or presenting statements that students can think about and respond to. More information is available about the SEL Screener by accessing this link:

https://www.fcps.edu/student-tests-and-assessments/student-assessment-details/social-emotional-screener

If you have any questions please reach out to our SEL Screener Lead Laura Walsh at LFWalsh@fcps.edu or Assistant Principal Jennifer Killingsworth at jkillingswor@fcps.edu.
