Students created beautiful and tasty treats for Cupcake Wars

Good afternoon, Franklin Community,

We have much to celebrate this week at Franklin MS!  First, we were thrilled to celebrate our amazing counselors and student services team this week for National School Counseling Week!  Thank you to everyone who sent in a brief note or shared some appreciation for all this fantastic team does for our students.

We also are celebrating a tremendous accomplishment of our Franklin Robotics Team that won 1st place at last weekend’s VEX IQ Tournament at Metz Middle School!  Our winning team of Hayden and Kaichen will compete in the Virginia State Championship on March 2nd.  Congratulations to Hayden and Kaichen!

This week several faculty members were treated by our talented student bakers in this year’s version of Cupcake Wars.  The competition was intense, as our students showcased their creativity and skills to make winter-themed cupcakes.  I had the honor of presenting certificates to our 1st place winners, pictured in the upper right hand corner of our collage.  Kudos to all of our student bakers for such a fun and sweet event!

Lastly, we are celebrating the kindness of our entire community, particularly our students, with our kindness spirit week next week.  Please take a moment to view our dress up days below and we look forward to celebrating our fantastic school community.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend and, as always, please reach out to me at MLCase@fcps.edu with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Michelle Case

Interim Principal

National School Counseling Week

This week was National School Counseling Week, and highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve academic success and planning for a career.  School counselors work with students in a variety of different capacities, whether it is through classroom lessons, group sessions, or individual counseling.  Learn more about the role of school counselors in FCPS.

Here at Franklin MS, we are so fortunate to have a group of caring and creative counselors that ensure all students feel supported, successful, and loved.  We encourage you to connect with your student’s counselor this coming week with appreciation, or consider submitting and FCPS Cares nomination to recognize a time they went above and beyond!

February Is Career and Technical Education Month

By enrolling in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course or program, students learn the technical applications of many occupations while preparing for higher education or entry-level employment.  A core program of CTE courses is offered in every middle and high school including Business and Information Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, Marketing, Technology and Engineering Education, and Trade and Industrial Education.  Since this is an elective, course offerings may vary by school.  Learn more on the CTE website

CTE also offers summer programs for students to explore their programs.  Enroll now!
