A Message From Principal Clarke

Mrs. Clarke

Beech Days Lunch Visitation Schedule

Dear Parents/Families,

We are thrilled to extend a warm invitation for you to join us during our Beech Days to share a wholesome lunch experience with your child at school. Beech Days are special weeks designated each month where we welcome you to partake in a nutritious school meal alongside your student(s). We encourage family members to enjoy the same lunch as their child, whether it's a packed lunch or from the school cafeteria. To maintain the integrity of our meal program, we kindly request refraining from bringing fast food options.

On the day of your child's scheduled lunch, please arrive 5 minutes early to sign in at the office. Our staff will direct you to the cafeteria. As you depart, please remember to check out at the office. For those opting to purchase lunch from the cafeteria, adult pricing is $4.75, payable in cash. For more details on lunch options, please click here.

To ensure a comfortable dining environment, we kindly request limiting visitors to 2 family members per student due to space constraints. Additionally, we ask that family members refrain from accompanying their child's class back to the classroom or joining them outside during recess. Please give a warm hug or kiss and exit the cafeteria.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and enthusiasm in making Beech Days a memorable experience for our students and families alike.

Please refer and adhere to the schedule below for the designated lunch dates and times by grade levels. You are welcome to come on your child's scheduled grade level Beech Day. Please let your child's teacher know in advance, so the cafeteria can plan accordingly for the additional number of lunches. We will see you at the Beech!

Lunch Schedule

Additionally, we are excited to kick off Kindness Week on Monday, February 12th, with an assembly for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students on building positive relationships and using kind words. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students will receive the same assembly message during their class counseling lessons with Ms. Torres.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

With appreciation,

Principal Clarke

📚 Lexia Parent Night: How We Help Your Child Learn to Read

FCPS funds the use of Lexia for all elementary and middle schools to use as part of their literacy instruction. Lexia is a computer-based program that supplements classroom instruction to help students develop literacy skills. It also provides teachers with data to identify students who need additional support, and the ability to know which specific concepts and skills to prioritize.Attend an information night on Monday, February 12, at 6:30 p.m., at Thoreau Middle School. Parents/caregivers will learn more about Lexia, and how FCPS is integrating it into the classroom and supporting student growth in reading. Attendees will also get tips for supporting their students at home.

Register to attend or submit a question in advance. Unable to attend in person? Join on Zoom

Integrating Lexia into the literacy curriculum aligns with the Virginia Literacy Act, FCPS’ Equitable Access to Literacy, and FCPS Strategic Plan Goal 3, which aims to have all students reading on level by the end of third grade.

Learn About Science, Technology, and Arts Magnet Schools

Three FCPS elementary magnet schools provide programs that enhance learning in science, technology, and performing arts.

If you are interested in sending your student to an elementary magnet school program, consider attending a school-based information night at Hunters Woods Elementary School, Bailey’s Primary Elementary School, or Bailey’s Upper Elementary School

Information nights will provide an opportunity to learn about individual school programs, student eligibility, the lottery process, and transportation.

Registration for the 2024-25 elementary magnet lottery is open Tuesday, March 5, through Friday, April 12. Get more information about the schools, their programs, and locations.
