Haycock Hello 2.12.24

hundred

Dear Haycock Families,

Last week was so busy!  We celebrated the 100th day of school and many of our kindergarten students looked "older" and had great ideas about what life would be like for them when they are 100.

Our fourth graders gave the most amazing performances of speeches from Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Martin Luther King, Jr. at Ford's Theater on Tuesday. Maybe you saw them on the front page of the Metro section of the Washington Post?

Finally, our sixth grade students presented their research for the National History Day project through display boards, websites, performances, and documentary films they created.  The learning they did in the process of completing this research project was deep and meaningful. They won't forget what they learned about the topics they chose to research.

Many of our students used their creativity to design logos for our Get 2 Green efforts.  We narrowed the entries down to four and will have the students vote for their choice for Haycock's Get 2 Green logo.  We'll use this logo on all our efforts to create sustainable learning spaces for our students and conserve and recycle where we can.  Keep it Green, Cougars!

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu
