Did You Know...

The use of oral nicotine pouches are on the rise. Products like Zyn, Velo, and On!  contain nicotine powder instead of tobacco leaf. Nicotine powder differs from tobacco leaf in that the user does not need to spit. Some of these products come in youth-friendly flavors. Oral nicotine pouches are not approved by the FDA for any use, including as a tool for quitting nicotine. Nicotine pouches can contain high concentrations of nicotine, which can put the user at risk of nicotine addiction. Here is more information from truth initiative.

SENIORS - 7^th Semester Grades reported to Colleges on Monday, Feb 12^th

Langley High School sends out mid-year grades (officially called 7^th semester grades) to any college a student has submitted a transcript request on Monday, February 12, 2024.   The grade that shows on SIS at 6am is what will be sent to schools.  Due to processing timelines, please know that there are no exceptions to this date.  Any questions can be directed to Transcript Assistant, Mrs. Laura Skeen at lsskeen@fcps.edu. 

DIVERSEartLANGLEY Art Exhibition

Come join us on Monday, February 12, 2024 between 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm to view the PTSA-sponsored DIVERSEartLANGLEY art exhibition in the main office hallway. Then join us from 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm for a moderated conversation reflecting on the art. 

This year's driving question: What does freedom mean to you?

Students have been invited to submit art from a wide range of artistic expression: photography, painting/drawing, sculpture, written word, music, dance; those students who choose to attend the exhibition and discuss their submissions with attendees will receive ONE HOUR OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

PTSA Langley Trivia Contest

Do you have what it takes to be the ultimate Saxon trivia champion or do you simply want to have fun? Then come out to Langley Trivia – a free, fun competition after school on Wed, Feb 14^th, from 3:00-4:30pm in the cafeteria. There will be music, prizes, free Chick-fil-a and pizza.

Instruction 2 Industry Career Expo Events

In February, school divisions across the region will team up with Virginia Ed Strategies to host the annual Instruction 2 Industry Career Expo event. This Northern Virginia regional event will allow high school students to connect virtually and in person, with more than 60 local industry professionals from in-demand career fields.  

The purpose of these FREE career exploration events is to provide students with opportunities to prepare for tomorrow’s workforce today. 

Virtual sessions will be held on February 5-8, from 4-7 p.m., and the in-person Career Expo and Job Fair event will be held on Saturday, February 17, from 1-4 p.m., in the North Hall of the Dulles Expo Center.

MCA Traffic Calming Public Meeting

MCA Transportation Committee

The McLean Citizens Association(MCA) will host a citizens information event regarding the Fairfax County traffic calming program. County officials will discuss how roads can be eligible for the program and what communities can do to obtain traffic calming. HOA representatives will discuss their experience in attempting to obtain traffic calming in their neighborhood. The event takes place on

Sophomore College Case Studies Night & Optional Class Dinner for Parents and Students

When: Wednesday, February 28^th, 7:00 p.m.

Where: Langley High School

Sophomores and their parents/guardians are invited to work in small groups, alongside college admission representatives, as part of a mock admissions team. Groups will analyze college applications. College admission representatives will lead the discussion groups to help participants better understand the myths and realities of college admissions.

Join Anna Brown and Jordan Payne, LHS psychologist and social worker, for an engaging parent conversation on Executive Functioning and Anxiety.  Conversation will focus on strategies to help your students manage their anxiety, emotions, time, study habits, and more.  We will be referring to “That Crumpled Paper was Due Last Week” by Ana Homayoun and “The Anxiety Audit” by Lynn Lyons. No Food Deliveries

Please note that students are not allowed to receive food deliveries during the school day due to security concerns. If a student needs food, they can contact their counselor, cafeteria staff, or administrator for assistance.
