Students had fun celebrating the 100th day of school.

 100 Days!

Yesterday was the 100th day of school and our students had fun celebrating the big milestone. Everyone especially loved the Kindergarten parade.

Dear Willow Springs Families,

The 3rd quarter is now in full swing and our days are full of learning, friendship, and fun. It seems that Punxsutawney Phil was right and we will have an early spring. Before we know it, we will be counting down the days until summer break.

If you aren't already following us on social media, we encourage you to do so. You can now find us on both Instagram and Facebook where we have recently been posting daily. We plan on continuing to post daily to give you insight into all the incredible things happening here in our fox den.

Our goal is to stay in touch with you, our families, so that you feel connected to our school and know that you are an important part of a caring community where we all belong and are valued. If you have questions or suggestions, please reach out to one of us or join us at the PTA meeting.

We wish all of you wonderful weekend. Thank you for sending us your best every day! #Willow Pride

Happy New Year!

🐉 Wishing good fortune to those in our community who celebrate Lunar New Year! This year's Lunar New Year artwork was created by Marshall High School student Kerstin Q.

The Lunar New Year is a holiday that marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar, which is the calendar traditionally used in many east Asian countries including China, Vietnam, Singapore, and South Korea. In these and other Asian countries, it is one of the most important holidays of the year. The Lunar New Year is all about ushering in luck and prosperity with family. 🐉

Next week is Kindness Week.

Kindness Week

Virginia Kindness Week is February 11-17, 2024. The purpose of Kindness Week is to recognize that simple day-to-day acts of kindness enable our schools, communities, and state to be a kinder, safer, healthier, and more inclusive place to live, work, learn, and play.

We encourage all families to join us in promoting kindness by using this idea board or this one and completing at least 7 of the activities. Students can document their kind acts on this challenge board and turn them in to the school office for a chance to win a prize. Three winners will be chosen.

Let's spread kindness everywhere we go!

Please join us next Thursday for our February PTA meeting in the gym or via Zoom.

You're Invited

We hope you will join us for our February PTA meeting scheduled for next Thursday the 15th at 7:00 PM in the library or virtually via Zoom. The Zoom link will be emailed to you on Thursday afternoon.

At this meeting we will talk about upcoming school events, opportunities for parent involvement, and more. Please come and share your ideas with us.

Apply to be substitute teacher or student monitor in FCPS and at Willow Springs.

Work for FCPS!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in a school? Are you looking to make a change in your life and career? Do you enjoy being around children? If so, please consider applying for a job with FCPS.

Substitute Teaching: There is always a need for substitute teachers across the area and right here at Willow Springs! Being a substitute gives you the flexibility to work where and when you want, and it allows you to get your foot in the door and gain valuable experiences to add to your resume.

If you are interested in becoming a sub. and would like to learn more, please check out this link HERE.

Student Monitor: Willow Springs is looking to hire a student monitor. This is a full-time position that provides supervision of students throughout the school day to include, but not limited to, the classroom, hallways, lunch, recess, specials and at arrival/dismissal. Monitor helps maintain order and discipline and assists in managing the behavior of students. Monitors must feel comfortable operating technology and performing administrative and noninstructional duties, and can expect to work with both individual and small groups of students during the day. It is another great entry point into a career in FCPS!
