Presidents' Day

Schools will be closed on Monday, February 19th in observance of Presidents’ Day.


Second Quarter Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home today for those students whose parents did not select “Go Paperless” in their ParentVUE accounts.  Progress Reports will be posted to Parent accounts today as well.  Please note that you can print the Progress Report from ParentVUE if you want.

VES “Soup”er Bowl - Dates: Monday, January 29th – Friday, February 9th

Support a good cause with SOUP! Bring in canned soups/canned goods to VES from now until Super Bowl Sunday. Two boxes are in the front lobby. Put your cans in the box of the team you think will win! All canned goods will be donated to a local food bank. Thank you for your support!

Valentine's Dance and Teacher Raffle

Thank you to all who attended and volunteered at the dance on Friday night! The music was hopping, kids were dancing, and hula hoops were spinning - a great time was had by all! The teachers have been notified of the students who won the raffles and will be reaching out to parents to coordinate when those activities will take place. Thank you to all who participated!

Parents Night Out

James Madison HIgh School is hosting a Parents Night Out on Friday, February 16, 6:00-9:00 pm.  This event helps provide funding for our Junior Class activities.  Please see the attached flyer for details.


Kindergarten Orientation

Save the Date!  Kindergarten Orientation will take place on Tuesday, March 19th from 1-2pm. Please contact the school office at 703-937-6000 for information on registration and attending this orientation. Incoming students must turn 5 by September 30, 2024 to attend Kindergarten for the 24-25 SY.  The orientation will be an opportunity for your rising Kindergarten student to spend a little time in the classroom with the teachers while the parents hear about the school and get any questions answered.  Our Public Health Nurse, Cat Romer,  will also be in attendance should you have questions regarding medications, allergies, etc.  We look forward to meeting and welcoming the class of 2038.

Read-a-thon

The Read-a-Thon is underway! Weekly bookmarks went home with students on Monday. They are to be completed at home and returned to school the following Monday. A new bookmark will be provided each Monday to log the minutes for that week. And don't forget, the library is open every day at 8:00 AM for a chance to get some reading minutes in before school! Please remember, students need to bring their own books to the library in the morning as they are NOT able to check books or take books off the shelf out at that time.


New Student Registration for SY24-25 is Now Open

Staffing is based on student enrollment. Please help us get the staffing needed for VES by encouraging families that move into the neighborhood to register as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support.

Registration is available online or you can pick-up paperwork in our front office.

Required documents for registration:

  • Proof of residency: A deed, lease agreement
  • Proof of birth: Original birth certificate
  • Health documentation: A certificate of physical examination including required screenings completed within the last 12 months prior to starting school by a US licensed physician.

i9 I Love My School Writing Contest 

Do you love Vienna Elementary School as much as we do? i9 wants to hear from you! They are holding an "I Love My School" Writing Contest and we have the opportunity to share why VES is the best! Magnet School Application and Lottery Information

The Magnet Program registration window will be open from Tuesday, March 5, through Friday, April 12, 2024.  No late applications are accepted.

Superintendent to Present FY 2025 Proposed Budget

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid will present the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Proposed Budget at the School Board meeting on Thursday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Reid’s presentation, as well as other budget documents, will be available after she presents to the board.
