National School Counseling Week
February 5-9 is National School Counseling Week, and it highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve academic success and planning for a career.
Herndon Middle School wants to take a moment to thank our amazing counselors for all of their hard work! We are lucky to have you on our team!

After School Program 3rd Quarter Schedule
We will have a lot of activities for students starting Monday, January 29. Please take a look at the Quarter 3 Schedule. Some of our new activities are:
- Capital One Coders (Begins 2/15)
- Fitness Fun
- Robotics Club
- Track & Field Practice (Begins March 12)
- Weight Training
We will also have more sports throughout the week:
- Basketball (Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays)
- Flag Football (Mondays & Wednesdays)
- Futsal (Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays)
- Volleyball (Wednesdays)
Night Hawk Expectations
As we enter the late winter/early fall season, it's important to remember that Night Hawk is a privilege, not a mandate. Students who stay after are expected to follow all the directions asked. Students that are not following the rules will have to take a break from after-school activities.
Please refer to the Night Hawk Program Guide and ask any questions you may have.
Superintendent to Present FY 2025 Proposed Budget
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid will present the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Proposed Budget at the School Board meeting on Thursday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Reid’s presentation, as well as other budget documents, will be available after she presents to the board.

Want to know if your child's bus is on schedule or where the bus is? Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use website and app that enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus — almost in real time — on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.
Parents can track multiple buses if their children don’t all ride the same bus; know exactly when children arrive at school or the bus stop; and receive customized text and/or email notifications about bus locations, schedule changes, or delays.

February is Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.

Presidents Day
All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 19, for the Presidents Day holiday.
