National School Counselor Week
This week (February 5-9, 2024) is National School Counseling Week! National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. School counselors are engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; work in partnership with families as they encounter challenges of raising children in today’s world; focus on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development; and work with teachers and other educators to provide an education system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves.
The West Potomac School Counseling Team is made up of 11 school counselors, 1 On-Time Graduation Counselor, and our College and Career Center Specialists.
