100 days

Celebrating 100 days of school!

Dear Churchill Road Families,

This past week was a busy one. It was fun seeing so many of you at our Bingo Night on Friday. Thank you to the PTA for coordinating this family favorite. Saturday’s Rise Against Hunger event was amazing!  We are so proud that more than 90 percent of our students participated by bringing money to support! We raised $5,381, far surpassing our goal of $3,050.  Way to go Bobcats!  Yesterday, we celebrated the 100th day of school!  Our kindergarteners love the 100th day celebration, and everyone should celebrate how much we have learned and grown in 100 days!

Don’t forget – if you would like to share insights for 2024-2025 class placements, please do so using the form linked in the article below. All information must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 23.

Next week is our Kindness Spirit Week. We can't wait to see all our students show their Bobcat spirit and creativity.

Please remember Monday, February 19 is the President’s Day holiday, and school is closed.  We hope you enjoy the extra day to relax and refresh with your family.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cherith Pierson-Barr and Ms. Jen Niccolls

Parent Input for 2024-2025 School Year

As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, our staff collaborates regarding student placements.  A variety of factors such as student personalities, friendships, and academic abilities are considered as we create our new classes.  Other factors impacting the decision-making process of student class assignments are new student enrollments and teachers moving to a new assignment.

Churchill Road families may assist in this process by sharing insights. Please note the following when providing information. We do not accept requests for specific teachers for the upcoming grade placement.  This includes hints that reference specific teachers.  We cannot guarantee friend requests nor exceptions for other students whereby there may be a conflict. We do our best to create a positive learning year for your child.

Please provide your input by submitting this form as it will ensure we have your request.  Please do not email us additional information.  Completion of the form is optional: however, the deadline for any correspondence is February 23, 2024 at 4 PM. Thank you for your input.

Save the Date for Spring 2024 SOL Testing

sol schedule

The Churchill Road SOL schedule for Spring 2024 has been finalized. Please see the chart above.  It is important that your child attend school on these days. If possible, please avoid scheduling trips or appointments that would take your child out of school during this time period. It is also important that your child has had a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast before testing! We thank you, in advance.

character counts

Character Strengths Focus

The next two weeks our school community is focusing on the character strengths of Love and Humility.

Love - You value close relationships with others and being close to people.

Humility - You do not seek the spotlight. You let your actions speak for themselve

To practice and encourage the character strengths with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions about these character strengths.

Nationally-Published Author Stuart Gibbs is Coming to Our School!

Stuart Gibbs will be coming on March 6th to speak with our 4-6 graders.  If your child would like to own an autographed copy of any of Mr. Gibbs’s books, please visit HERE for more information and submit your order by February 26, 2024

🚍 Here Comes the Bus

Want to know if your child's bus is on schedule or where the bus is? Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use website and app that enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus — almost in real time — on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.

Parents can track multiple buses if their children don’t all ride the same bus; know exactly when children arrive at school or the bus stop; and receive customized text and/or email notifications about bus locations, schedule changes, or delays.

To get started, download the app from the Apple iOS or Android app store. Check out the Here Comes the Bus and Frequently Asked Questions webpages for more information.

Already using the Here Comes the Bus app? Send your feedback to HCTB@fcps.edu.

Note: eNotify text messaging will continue to be used for reporting bus delays and bus incidents.
