Chunk Jr. the Groundhog

On February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow. According to folklore, that means we will see an early spring this year!

Happy Groundhog's Day, from Phil's "Instafamous" Cousin, Chunk Jr.!

Dear CRES Community,

We hope that you are enjoying this wonderful weather this weekend! So far, it seems like the groundhog is right. It will be an early spring!

This past week, we hosted two community conversations. These informal meetings provided a valuable opportunity to address your questions and discuss matters that are vital to student welfare and learning.

Throughout the conversations, we explored various topics and concerns, reflecting our collective dedication to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for all students. Your input and perspectives help us better understand the needs of our community and inform our efforts to enhance student success.

Presently, we are exploring innovative ways to reimagine our service delivery model for instruction to ensure it remains inclusive and responsive to the needs of all learners, including those in our advanced academic program. By embracing new approaches and leveraging the latest research and best practices, we aim to create an enriched learning environment that fosters the growth and development of every student. Your input and collaboration are integral as we work together to shape the future of our academic programs to better serve the diverse needs of our community.

Please RSVP here if you are interested in being a part of our online or in-person focus groups that will explore potential instructional approaches for students in grades 3 through 6. At this time, we are interested in determining how many families would like to participate so that we can begin to prepare for these guided discussions. A date will be confirmed and shared with you in our next newsletter.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Warmly,

Dr. Hertzberg, Ms. Wu, Ms. Baugh, Ms. Helmer, and Ms. Ford

Upcoming PTA Meeting and Special Presentation:

“Parenting in an AI World”

February 13th, 6:15 pm

Keeping up with Tech trends can be overwhelming, and advances often move faster than we do! Not only is it important to stay up-to-date on emerging technology, it is important to know what your kids are using and how to talk to them about online safety and ethical technology use.

Please join us on February 13th at 6:15 pm, before the PTA meeting, for an informative and conversational session with Rebecca Link, Director of Training at Rohirrim, an AI company, and a parent of two FCPS students. She will cover the basics on technology, AI, and best practices in guiding your children.

Please RSVP here so we can prepare for your participation!

🚍 Here Comes the Bus

Want to know if your child's bus is on schedule or where the bus is? Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use website and app that enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus — almost in real time — on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.

Parents can track multiple buses if their children don’t all ride the same bus; know exactly when children arrive at school or the bus stop; and receive customized text and/or email notifications about bus locations, schedule changes, or delays.

To get started, download the app from the Apple iOS or Android app store. Check out the Here Comes the Bus and Frequently Asked Questions webpages for more information.

Already using the Here Comes the Bus app? Send your feedback to HCTB@fcps.edu.

Note: eNotify text messaging will continue to be used for reporting bus delays and bus incidents.
