Beyond the Page Theatre Company presents: 

"Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" 

About the Play:

Beyond the Page Theatre Company at West Potomac High School is thrilled to present “Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime,” adapted by Simon Stephens from the novel by Mark Haddon. The story follows Christopher Boone, a fifteen-year-old mathematical genius with an extraordinary perspective on life. When he discovers that the neighbor's dog has been murdered, Christopher embarks on a journey to solve the mystery, discovering family secrets along the way. This captivating production promises an evening filled with mystery, emotion, and self-discovery. Expect to be immersed through mesmerizing projections, dynamic lighting, and evocative soundscapes.

Academic Advising and Course Selection 24-25

  • Please visit our West Potomac Academic Advising website for a variety of resources and information.
  • Did you miss Curriculum Night? Presentations are now posted on the advising website. 
  • Course Selection in StudentVue is now live with directions posted on our website. Students are encouraged to login and select their preferred
  • classes before their one on one meeting with their school counselor.  School counselor meetings will occur on the following dates:
    • Rising 12th graders – January 29- Feb 9 – through English 11 classes
    • Rising 11th graders – February 12-23 – through PE 10
    • Rising 10th graders – Feb 20 – March 1 – through PE 9
  • A reminder Parents can view courses selected in the ParentVue account.

It's Five Guys time! Delicious Burgers, Fries, Milkshakes and so much more. 

Join us for our first Five Guys fundraiser of 2024! February 7th from 4:00-8:00 PM at either Quander Road or Hybla Valley location. 

Five Guys will donate 20% of the proceeds back to the PTSA.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support our Five Guys Restaurant Nights, your participation helps the PTSA raise money used for academic enrichment programs.

SAT and ACT Test Prep News!

CLASSES OFFERED:

SAT Spring Group Class starts 3/9/24 and preps for the 6/1/24 official SAT test (digital version). FCPS Laptops required for classes and mocks.

ACT Spring Group Class starts 3/9/24 and preps for the 6/8/24 official ACT test.

 

MOCK TESTS OFFERED: NOW is the time to determine test preference! Take a mock of each test to find your strength before registering for a class. SAT (digital) and ACT mock tests are offered through 5/18/24. Full schedule HERE 

Mock SAT and ACT available 2/17 before the start of our spring classes.

  • Scholarships for Classes and Mock Tests WPHS student need-based scholarships for mocks and classes are available through the College and Career Center Specialist, Karen B, Young, kbyoung1@fcps.edu.
  • Test optional does not mean test blind! Many students still provide test scores with their college applications. Test scores are used for admissions, scholarships, and class placement. Take a mock test to see if you’re in the scholarship range or just a prep class away from that range. Test optional means YOU CHOOSE whether or not to send your scores. A good test score can only strengthen your application
  • Need Flexibility? We have an online class option! Try Applerouth’s Self-Paced Online Course - Animated video lessons and comprehensive practice for every section of the Digital SAT or ACT. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

Career Exploration Events for Students:

In February, school divisions across the region will team up with Virginia Ed Strategies to host the annual Instruction 2 Industry Career Expo event. This Northern Virginia regional event invites high school students to connect virtually and in person with more than 60 local industry professionals from in-demand career fields. 

These free career exploration events aim to provide students with opportunities to prepare for tomorrow’s workforce today. 

Virtual sessions will be held Monday, February 5, through Thursday, February 8, 4-7 p.m., and the in-person Career Expo and Job Fair will be held Saturday, February 17, 1-4 p.m., in the North Hall of the Dulles Expo Center

Students should register today on the Instruction 2 Industry Events webpage.

Fairfax County Teen Job Fairs:

The 2024 Fairfax County Teen Job Fairs have been announced- there will be two events this spring.  The fairs are open to all teens in Fairfax County looking for employment, volunteer opportunities, or tips on building their resume.  Please keep checking the event webpage for additional details!
