National School Counseling Week
Thank you to our two wonderful school counselors, Courtney Cottrell and Casey Comer. Our Counselors teach classroom lessons, have group sessions and meet one on one supporting student needs and help our students be successful in every way. We are thankful to have them at Deer Park!

Bring a gently used book and earn a ticket to swap for a new-to-you book!
Bring your used book to the library on February 21st. Trade in your ticket for a new book on February 28th.

Read Across America Week - Book Mark Contest!
Deer Park will have a reading-themed book mark design contest for all grade levels. One winner per grade level.
- All entries should be 2 ½ inches wide by 8 ½ inches long.
- Students should include first and last name, grade and teacher’s name on the BACK side.
- Tip: Designs often look better when outlined in a thin black marker.
All entries are due by February 12th.

PreK/Headstart Program 2024-2025
Deer Park has an inclusive PreK/Head Start program that started in the 2023-24 school year to provide a quality preschool experience with comprehensive services at no cost to qualifying families, who reside in Fairfax County. Though families may qualify, spaces are limited, and selection is based on need, not “first come, first serve”, with PreK priority given to 4 year olds and Deer Park based students. More information and the application in both Spanish and English can be found at this link - Early childhood/preK registration. Please apply now for the 2024-25 school year.
This program will be in addition our existing preschool Special Education Class Based program and our Preschool Autism Program. If you think your preschooler has a developmental delay or a disability contact Child Find for FCPS. Child Find is the process of identifying children with potential special education needs. Child Find screenings are free to residents of FCPS whose child is 2 through 5 years old. Registration/early-childhood-prek/early-childhood if you have a child under the age of 2 who may have a delay contact the office-for-children/infant-and-toddler-connection for a free screening.

Winter Dance
ARE YOU… READY FOR IT? Tomorrow Friday | 6-8 PM
Join us for our annual Winter Dance Party with Silent Auction tomorrow from 6-8 PM at Deer Park! Dress up as your favorite musician or in your favorite band gear from any ERA! This is a free admission family event.
Kids can’t be dropped off — a parent must be present. Adults will have the opportunity to bid on auction items during the Dance Party, and dress up too! We need help making this an epic dance party like last year!
Silent Auction
Bidding ends February 11th at 5 PM
Psst! Ready to get your hands on some swoon-worthy goodies? Silent auction bidding is live. Trust us, folks, you won't want to miss out on the treasure trove of 10 lush baskets up for grabs.

If you're the kind of person who likes to touch and feel the goods, swing by the Winter Dance Party Friday from 6-8pm at Deer Park to check them out in person. But, if you prefer to stay cozy at home and get first dibs, you can also view them online via the auction link or scn the QR code.
