Students are gearing up for a volleyball tournament next week.

Good afternoon, Franklin Community,

We had a wonderful start to our second semester this week!  Students adjusted well to their new schedules and were excited to begin exploring the fun opportunities in their new electives courses.

Speaking of new classes, I want to remind you of our upcoming rising 8th grade virtual curriculum night this Tuesday evening.  This is a chance to hear from our Student Services team about 8th grade course selections and provide you with a refresher regarding the many opportunities we have for our students.  In addition to supporting our rising 8th grade families, we will also host a breakout room for our rising 9th grade families that have some lingering questions following the high school curriculum night events last month.  A separate email will be sent on Monday with the zoom link for this event.  Please note, the same link will be used for both rising 8th and rising 9th grade presentations, as we will utilize breakout rooms to separate the two groups.

Lastly, next week is National School Counselor Appreciation Week!  We are so lucky to have an incredible team of counselors here, including Joni Fraundorfer, Kim Gallagher and Sarah Zeid.  If you have a moment next week, please consider reaching out to your child’s counselor or submitting an "FCPS Cares" nomination to let them know how much you appreciate all they do.  Please see below for additional information on the appreciation week.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and as always, please reach out to me at MLCase@fcps.edu with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Michelle Case

Interim Principal

Next Week is National School Counseling Week

February 5-9 is National School Counseling Week, and highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve academic success and planning for a career.  School counselors work with students in a variety of different capacities, whether it is through classroom lessons, group sessions, or individual counseling.  Learn more about the role of school counselors in FCPS.

Here at Franklin MS, we are so fortunate to have a group of caring and creative counselors that ensure all students feel supported, successful, and loved.  We encourage you to connect with your student’s counselor this coming week with appreciation, or consider submitting an FCPS Cares nomination to recognize a time they went above and beyond!
