February 7 Family Newsletter
Happy School Counselor Week!
We are grateful for our amazing counselors, Mrs. Kourajian and Mrs. Schmidt. They are visible daily supporting students, staff and families across the school and provide opportunities for students to develop social and emotional skills.
Thank you to all families who came out to last week's Math Night! It was exciting to see students and families engaged in various games and math tasks differentiated for each grade level. Thank you to our amazing PTA for providing dinner for staff who volunteered to stay! Check out some of the photos below.
Sincerely,
Dominic, Jaime and Scott

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. FCPS Social Studies provides information and suggested activities and resources to support teaching and learning Black and African American history. This Black History 180 document supports the celebration of Black History Month in February, as well as every other school day.
Black history is American history. Students deserve meaningful, sustained opportunities to learn about the experiences and contributions of Black and African American people year-round, and Black History Month is one opportunity to honor these diverse and important stories.

String-a-Palooza
Centreville High School recently hosted a special Strings event called String-a-Palooza. Twenty-two of our 5th and 6th grade Strings students participated in this all-day event that ended in a performance on stage in the CVHS auditorium!
Students learned about instrument care and construction in a presentation by Day Violins, learned all new music, played fun games, played alongside CVHS orchestra students and worked with the high school and middle school orchestra directors – Dr. Taylor, Ms. Kohut, and Ms. Mossey. Students from nearby elementary schools joined our students for a large group of 80 musicians. Congratulations to our Strings musicians!
