🐝Hornet Happenings

goals

Setting academic and personal goals empowers children by fostering self-discipline, motivation, and a sense of purpose, laying the foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth.

Hello Halley Families,

As we near the midpoint of the school year, it’s an excellent time to celebrate your child's achievements and gear up for a strong finish to the quarter! It is also the perfect time to revisit academic and personal goals, too!

Progress reports will be distributed on February 6th. Citizenship, including effort grades, impacts academic gains over the year. Please consider your child's effort when considering their growth throughout the school year. The two are often linked.

Let's continue to work together to make the rest of the school year a success!

Blessings and Joy,

Mrs. Peerman, Ms. Hubbard, and Mrs. Johnson-Tyler

Calendar Update for March 5 Presidential Primary

The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested schools to close on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.

As a result, March 5 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day. As outlined in Regulation 4421, School Planning Days are directed by school-based administrators in order to devote time to school improvement efforts, including collaboration around data, common assessments, and responsive instruction. Central offices and school offices will remain open.

Keeping Our School

Community Healthy

We’ve noticed a recent rise in cases of RSV, the flu, COVID, and other viruses among students and staff. To encourage a healthy learning environment for everyone, we kindly ask that you please monitor your child's health daily for any signs of illness such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, or fatigue. If they are experiencing any of these symptoms, please keep them home from school and consult a healthcare professional. As a staff, we are also mindful of these same criteria for work attendance. In addition, we will continue to practice rigorous cleaning and disinfecting protocols throughout the school. Visit FCPS' Health and Safety Guidance webpage for more tips.
