Science Alive!
 Mr. Damato and Mrs. Hitz are standing in front of our new Science Alive area in the lobby. Live nature webcams will be displayed throughout the day to expose our students to science. Please visit our lobby to see all of our improvements including the fish tanks!
PreK/Headstart Program 2024-2025
Deer Park has an inclusive PreK/Head Start program that started in the 2023-24 school year to provide a quality preschool experience with comprehensive services at no cost to qualifying families, who reside in Fairfax County. Though families may qualify, spaces are limited, and selection is based on need, not “first come, first serve”, with PreK priority given to 4 year olds and Deer Park based students. This program will be in addition our existing preschool Special Education Class Based program and our Preschool Autism Program. If you think your preschooler has a developmental delay or a disability contact Child Find for FCPS. Child Find is the process of identifying children with potential special education needs. Child Find screenings are free to residents of FCPS whose child is 2 through 5 years old. Registration/early-childhood-prek/early-childhood-child-find If you have a child who is under the age of 2, who may have a delay contact office-for-children/infant-and-toddler-connection for a free screening.
Attendance Matters!
When students miss too many days of school, they fall behind and struggle to keep up with their classmates. Whether the days missed are due to illness, truancy or for any other reason, the end result for the student is the same — learning time is lost. Children and adolescents will get sick at times and may need to stay at home, but we want to work with you to help minimize the number of days your student is absent from school.

Kindness Week February 12-16
Monday - "Kick off" Kindness Week, Sports Day

Thursday - Zones of Regulation Day. Wear your grade's color: PreK-K: Red; Grades 1-2: Green; Grades 3-4: Yellow; Grades 5-6: Blue
Friday - Deer Park Spirit Day!
Read Across America Week - Book Mark Contest!
Deer Park will have a reading-themed book mark design contest for all grade levels. One winner per grade level.
- All entries should be 2 ½ inches wide by 8 ½ inches long.
- Students should include first and last name, grade and teacher’s name on the BACK side.
- Tip: Designs often look better when outlined in a thin black marker.
All entries are due by February 12th.

February 7th PTA Meeting
Come join us for our February PTA meeting on Wednesday the 7th at 7 PM. We will be receiving a presentation from Ms. Arzt who attended a technology conference. We are also looking for volunteers to help with the Deer Park vs. Coates Basketball game. We are also looking for volunteers for the Nominating Committee. Remember all are welcome to PTA meetings but only members can vote. Join via Zoom here or in the Library at 7 PM.
Winter Dance and Silent Auction
February 9th, 6 - 8 PM
ARE YOU… READY FOR IT? Join us for our annual Winter Dance Party with Silent Auction on February 9th from 6-8 PM at Deer Park!
Dress up as your favorite musician or in your favorite band gear from any ERA!
This is a free admission family event. Kids can’t be dropped off — a parent must be present. Adults will have the opportunity to bid on auction items during the Dance Party, and dress up too! We need help making this an epic dance party like last year!

Deer Park PTA just launched a GroupRaise x Krispy Kreme Digital Dozen fundraising campaign. Silent Auction
Bidding Opens Friday, February 2nd at 5pm
Psst! Ready to get your hands on some swoon-worthy goodies? Silent auction bidding kicks off on Friday, Feb 2 at 5 PM sharp! Trust us, folks, you won't want to miss out on the treasure trove of 10 lush baskets up for grabs. If you're the kind of person who likes to touch and feel the goods, swing by the Winter Dance Party on Feb 9 from 6-8pm at Deer Park to check them out in person. But, if you prefer to stay cozy at home and get first dibs, you can also view them online via the auction link or scan the QR code.
