Principal's Message
Dear Crestwood Families,
Thank you for attending our Literacy Night and our Parent Coffee last week! Thank you to Officer Rosa for his presentation on opioid awareness and prevention. We were thrilled to see so many families in our building for Literacy Night. Math Night and Science Night are right around the corner and we hope to see you there!
In February, we will be having weekly Attendance Raffles. Each student who is at school for the entire week will have a chance to win a Giant gift card for their family! Regular attendance is crucial for our students' academic success and social development. There is a relationship between students who miss just two days per month and decreased academic performance, and this includes both unexcused and excused absences. Please help us stay focused on improving attendance throughout the second semester!
Finally, We want to partner with you to continue the celebration of diversity at Crestwood by making sure all students and staff feel safe and welcome at school. Specifically, we are asking that you remind your child of expected school behavior. The FCPS SR&R website has resources (e.g., elementary video, SR&R Handbook, Elementary Quick Guide) that are developed to help students understand topics like harassment and bullying and the effect it can have on others. Please feel free to use these materials as you talk with your child.

La asistencia regular es crucial para el éxito académico y el desarrollo social de nuestros estudiantes. Spotlight on Crestwood Elementary
Our recent Parent Coffee at Crestwood Elementary was a valuable gathering where Officer Rosa from the FCPD shared crucial insights on opioid prevention and awareness. Joined by our school leaders, Ms. Casablanca and Ms. Villanueva, the event fostered open discussions about keeping our community safe and informed. Thanks to all who participated, contributing to a meaningful dialogue that strengthens our commitment to a secure and supportive environment for our children.

Literacy Night Success!
A sincere thank you to all the families who attended the "Camping" Literacy Night at Crestwood Elementary! Your presence made the evening truly special. We hope you enjoyed the stories, games, and reading adventures. Thanks for being part of this unforgettable night.

Valentine's Day Celebrations
Teachers will be reaching out if they are having Valentine’s Day festivities. We are asking that parents follow these guidelines for the class celebration:
- Please contact your child’s teacher to check on types of allergies before purchasing snacks.
- No homemade snacks allowed.
- Balloons of any kind are not allowed (no bouquets, arches, or single balloons).
- Please send enough Valentine treats for the entire class.

Rising 7th Graders Information
Rising 7th Presentations at Crestwood ES: Tuesday, February 6, 2024
- IN-PERSON visit with the Key middle school counselors presenting Course Information & Registration directly to our students.
- Key counselors will bring the course registration form and explain the registration process. These forms must be returned by February 16, 2024
Course Request Deadlines: Friday, February 23, 2024
- Students will work with their counselor and 6th grade teacher to complete course requests electronically by February 23, 2024.
Spring Visit - 6th grade comes to Key Middle School: Week of April 15 -19, 2024.
- Parent permission required for Key MS visit.
- More information to follow.

FCPS wants you to be a part of our team! We are seeking educators with strong student engagement skills and a passion for having a positive influence on our schools.
Attend our job fair on Saturday, February 3, 9 a.m.-noon, at Lewis High School. There will be networking and interviewing opportunities with representatives from various Fairfax County public schools. Employment offers may be extended during the fair.
