Chantilly Strings & Band Day

Last Friday, 5th and 6th grade music students from all of the elementary schools in the Chantilly Pyramid were invited to participate in “Chantilly Strings and Band Day.” Rocky Run Middle School hosted Strings Day and Franklin Middle School welcomed students for Band Day. We had 48 strings students and 50 band students signed up to participate. All of the young musicians from various elementary schools practiced throughout the morning and preformed a full concert in the afternoon.  We are so proud of our GBW musicians for working hard to put on this amazing performance. Such a great experience for our students to actually be in the respective Middle Schools to learn from the extraordinary Music teachers we have in the Chantilly Pyramid.

Come Work at GBW!!!

If you are looking for a job, please consider applying to work for a job at GBW through Fairfax County Public Schools.  Here at Greenbriar West ES, we work hard to create a very positive school climate where students and staff thrive.  If you would like to join our GBW family, we are currently recruiting more substitutes to join our workforce.

If you would like to know more about becoming a substitute, please see the information below:

  • Substitutes- We are currently seeking to expand our pool of kind and caring substitute teachers and instructional assistants at GBW.
  • Substituting in FCPS can give you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students and can even be a pathway that leads to a full-time career in FCPS. If you are interested in applying for a substitute position, please apply here AND email Sally Bippert to inform the school of your desire to accept substitute jobs at Greenbriar West Elementary.

Students in grades 3-6 will complete FCPS required lessons on bullying and harassment. Families can support this effort by continuing the discussion at home. (Here is more information about the county’s Bullying Prevention and Intervention efforts.)

let them run

Let Them Run

Volunteers Needed

Let Me Run is building a new generation of men by teaching boys to be their best selves through a character development program powered by running.

4th-6th grade boys will run and complete lessons on things like expressing emotions, showing affection, building friendships, and connecting with others. LMR is a national non-profit that provides coach training, curriculum, and materials needed for lessons! The current coach at GBW is flexible to time/days of the week, so contact Site Liaison Mary Beth Drum mbdrum@fcps.edu to volunteer either once or twice a week, for just seven weeks.
