Happy Wednesday and last day of January,
Thank you to our PTA for the fun and exciting Bingo Night last week! It was great to see so many families and students attend.
Tomorrow we will be hosting Math Night at Union Mill from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. Students and families will have opportunities to connect and engage in math games and experiences based upon their current grade level. Food trucks will be on site including Two Smooth Dudes and Frothy Mug. We look forward to seeing families tomorrow evening.

Math Night
Math Night will be Thursday, February 1st from 5:00-6:30 pm. This event is being held to share what math instruction looks like here at Union Mill and have families engage in these math activities together. Two Smooth Dudes and Frothy Mug food trucks will be here with delicious food and refreshing drinks for purchase. We look forward to seeing you!

Kids Heart Challenge
 The Kids Heart Challenge is coming soon! On February 1, we will have assemblies by our American Heart Association representative for Kindergarten through 5th grade classes. If your child has registered for the Kids Heart Challenge before February 1, their name will be put in a drawing for instant bonus prizes.

Please mark your calendars to join us for the big Kids Heart Challenge event on Thursday, February 22, from 5:00 -7:00 pm. The event will run as an open house so you can come at any point during those two hours. We will have two food trucks on site for your family to get dinner before, during, or after the activities.

Looking to Rehome a Refrigerator?
Do you have a refrigerator at your house that you are looking to rehome? If so, please contact Jenny Murray at jbmurray@fcps.edu or Ami Schroder at amschroder@fcps.edu. We are preparing for a new Get 2 Green initiative at UMES. Thank you!
Community Flier Distribution
This semester’s non-profit Community Flier Distribution will take place on Friday, February 16th. To submit a flier for approval, it must be received in the office by Friday, February 2nd and include the following disclaimer – “This event [or activity] is sponsored by [name of the organization] and is operated independently of the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, and Union Mill Elementary School.”
Once the flier is approved, please deliver 36 sets of 30 copies each (plus a few extras for front office staff) by no later than NOON on Wednesday, February 14th. Fliers will go home with students on Friday, February 16th.
Order Your Yearbook Now!
Orders are open for 2023-2024 yearbooks. Families may place online orders at www.buytheyearbook.com and enter School ID# 719478. Yearbooks are $15.69 each and the deadline to order is April 19, 2024.
Don't miss your chance to order this year’s yearbook! There will not be extras available at the end of the year.
*Families who may have ordered a yearbook earlier in the year should have received a receipt from Yearbooklife.
