Preparing for Winter Weather

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather-related closing decisions are made.

FCPS’ website is generally the first place where we will post an emergency weather closing. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible including email, text, social media, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.

Be sure to plan for the winter season. Make sure your contact information is up-to-date in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and plan for childcare if appropriate.

FCPS Magnet School Application and Lottery Information

The FCPS Magnet Program registration window will be open from Tuesday, March 5, through Friday, April 12, 2024. No late applications are accepted.

To learn more about the programs and the registration process, families are encouraged to attend one of the Parent Information Nights and visit the FCPS Elementary Magnet School Lottery page for more in formation:

PTA News

Our next Spirit Night is THIS week at Spartans - dine in or take out on January 23-24 and proceeds will come back to the KPKG PTA! Just mention that you are supporting the KP/KG PTA when ordering.

Thank you to those that came to the Summer Camp Fair. We hope it was informative and useful!

We’re looking for candidates for the Nominating Committee. Each year the PTA elects a Nominating Committee to put forth a slate of candidates for the PTA's next executive board. The PTA plans to elect the nominating committee at our February 29 meeting. Are you interested in serving on this committee? Please contact PTA president, Charlotte Hannagan, at president@kpkgpta.org. Similarly, please reach out to Charlotte if you have any interest in serving on the 2024-2025 PTA board.

Baskets & Bingo is coming up on February 23 at LBSS - classes are collecting donations for baskets and we will be looking for volunteers - keep an eye out and reach out to baskets@kpkgpta.org for more information.

Our Family Fitness Night is coming up on April 11th. Interested in volunteering? Sign up here to be on the committee.

Mark your calendars. Some key upcoming dates for the PTA include: Glow Dance on February 9 at KGES (for KG students only); and PTA General Membership Meeting on February 29 at KPES. Please reach out to board@kpkgpta.org if you are interested in volunteering for any of our initiatives!
