Message from Mrs. Castillo

Snow Day

What a busy week of winter weather!  Thank you for your patience as we have navigated the weather elements and disruptions to the school week.  For those of you that came by Lemon Road for some sledding - we hope you had fun!  It was great to see so many lions.

Thank you to all families who joined us for the wonderful winter concert!  Hearing how much our musicians have learned this year was very impressive.  We also welcomed local author, Cazzy Zahursky, who met with our kindergarten - third graders to share the writing process and how she develops her stories last week.

This week we wrap up quarter.  We have seen such growth in our students this year, we can’t wait to see what the second semester brings!

As a reminder, we have a 2-hour early release on Thursday and a student holiday on Friday. Our hardworking staff will be using this time to complete end of quarter grades plan instruction for February.

Positivity Project: Social Intelligence

Social Intelligence

Next week, our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Social Intelligence. Social intelligence means you are aware of other people’s thoughts and feelings. You understand why they do things.  Social intelligence refers to a person’s ability to understand and manage interpersonal relationships. It is distinct from a person’s IQ or “book smarts.” It includes an individual’s ability to understand, and act on, the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors of other people.
