Woodburn Families,

It is hard to believe we are halfway through the school year! Thank you for your ongoing partnership. This is a great time to reflect with your child. A few questions you might ask:

  • What are you most proud of this quarter?
  • What are you excited to learn more about?
  • What is something funny that happened at school recently?
  • Who did you play with today?
  • What is one change you would like to see?

We are very proud of our Wildcats and look forward to all that is to come in 3rd quarter!

Together We Grow,

Katy & Kelley

Early Release & Teacher Work Day

We've reached the end of second quarter and have so much student learning and growth to celebrate. As a reminder, there is a two hour early release today, Thursday, January 25th. There is no school for students on Friday, January 26th.

Math Olympiad

We are looking for a parent or community member who might be interested in running a Math Olympiad after school club at Woodburn.  The program will run from March 12th to May 2nd.

This position comes with guides, workbooks, and more. If you enjoy solving math puzzles and are interested in supporting this club, please reach out to Katy Richman and Chelsea Ettere

PTA Fundraising Success!

We have had many successful Clean Kitchen Nights this year! To date, we have raised $1,740.53 for Woodburn. Every bit counts! Not only do we appreciate the patronage at these locations, but the restaurant managers enjoy the extra boost on an otherwise slow night.

Please make sure to mark your calendars for next month’s Clean Kitchen Night on Friday, February 9 at Chuck E. Cheese!

Body Safety Program

We are looking forward to our second year of hosting the body safety program at Woodburn in partnership with Fairfax County. Speak Up Be Safe lessons will occur during the week of February 5th- 9th 2024. Parent information letters including opt-out forms have been sent home in Thursday folders. The lessons take place in each classroom with trained facilitators from the county and teach the body safety rules below in age appropriate ways. Please reach out to the school social worker, Molly Buchanan at mabuchanan@fcps.edu or program coordinator Francesca Lovitt at: Francesca.Lovitt@fairfaxcounty.gov with any questions.
