Dear Bailey’s ES Families,

We hope that you were able to have some snow day fun this week by playing outside or staying warm doing your favorite indoor snow day activities!

We have a busy week ahead of us and want to remind you that Thursday, January 25th is a 2-hour early release day; dismissal will begin at 1:40pm. Thursday evening we will host the Dual Language Immersion Parent Information Night from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Also, Friday, January 26th is a teacher work day and there is no school for students.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our school!  We hope you have a great weekend!

Important information for

Spanish Immersion Families

Starting January 29th, all Spanish Immersion students will be switching their homeroom class to their partner teacher to start their day for the remainder of the school year. This means, if they currently start their day with their language arts/social studies teacher, they will switch to start their day with their math/science teacher and vice versa.  This will ensure that students receive equal amounts of instructional time in language arts and math. Their lunch, recess and specials classes will remain exactly the same. More information will be communicated directly from your child's homeroom teacher closer to the switch.

Parent/Caregiver Lunch Visitation Schedule

Parents/Caregivers are invited to join their student(s) for lunch at school on an assigned day. This is a great opportunity for parents/caregivers to come in for lunch with their child.

We encourage parents/caregivers to eat the same lunch as their child either packed or school lunch. We kindly ask that you do not bring fast food/outside lunch or candy. Also, parents please be advised that the bathrooms directly outside of the cafeteria are for student use only.

On the day of your child’s lunch, please arrive 5 minutes early so you can sign-in at the office and they will direct you to the cafeteria. Additionally, when you leave the school, please remember to check out in the office.  If you choose to buy lunch from the cafeteria, adult pricing is $4.50 and may be paid in cash.  Click here for more information on purchasing lunch.

We ask that you please limit visitors to 1 caregiver, and no strollers please. We also ask that family members do not follow their child's class back to the classroom or outside for recess.

Please see below for the scheduled lunches by teacher

What Families Can Do to Fight Drug Misuse

FCPS is committed to raising awareness about the opioid epidemic with our educators, parents/caregivers, and students. Together, we can help ensure our students thrive.

What can families do?

  • Show you disapprove of underage drinking and other drug misuse. More than 80% of young people ages 10-18 say their parents are the leading influence on their decision whether to drink.
  • Show you care about your child’s health, wellness, and success.
  • Show you are a good source of information about alcohol and other drugs. Find helpful resources on the FCPS Opioid Awareness webpage
  • Pay attention to your child and discourage risky behaviors.
  • Build your child’s skills and strategies for avoiding drinking and drug use. Talk with your child about what they would do if faced with a decision about alcohol and drugs, such as texting a code word to a family member or practicing how they will say, “No thanks.”
