Community Message

Wolverine Community,

Happy Snow Day!  A few reminders as we head into next week:

  • Next week is the last week of the quarter. We have an early release on Thursday and no school on Friday January 26 as it is a teacher workday.  Thursday we will host our Wellness Day.  For those not familiar, this was an event we started last year.  On Tuesday in Advisory students will have the opportunity to select four sessions/workshops exploring a variety of ways to nurture their social, emotional, and physical wellness.  We will have a special bell schedule and students will attend their sessions through out the morning.  We look forward to a great day!
  • As it is the end of the quarter a reminder that ParentVue/StudentVue Gradebook and Report Card is blocked from January 25 (4pm) – February 5 (6am). Teachers will finalize 2nd quarter and 1st semester grades – a reminder that with rolling gradebook 2nd quarter and 1st semester grades will be identical.  While grades will be viewable in ParentVue/StudentVue on February 5 we will print a hard copy of report cards and distribute those in Advisory on February 9.
  • Finally, a reminder that Academic Advising and Course Selection for 24-25 begins with WP students January 29 as 11th graders will begin their one on one meetings with their school counselor (through English 11 courses). 10th graders will start meeting with counselors February 12 (through PE 10) and 9th graders will meet with counselors starting February 26 (through PE).  Please visit our West Potomac Academic Advising website for a variety of helpful resources!

Wishing you a great weekend!

  • Scholarships for Classes and Mock Tests WPHS student need-based scholarships for mocks and classes are available through the College and Career Center Specialist, Karen B, Young, kbyoung1@fcps.edu.

Test optional does not mean test blind! Many students still provide test scores with their college applications. Test scores are used for admissions, scholarships, and class placement. Take a mock test to see if you’re in the scholarship range or just a prep class away from that range. Test optional means YOU CHOOSE whether or not to send your scores. A good test score can only strengthen your application

Mock Tests – Find out how you’d score! Mock Tests ($23.00): Practice your skills under realistic testing conditions. Take mocks of both ACT and Digital SAT relatively close together to determine your test strength/preference. Focus your test prep on your strength!

Students from other schools’ welcome – invite your friends!
