Student Attendance Summary- Coming Soon!

As you know, regular attendance is a priority at Madison High School and is crucial for the academic success of all students. Studies have repeatedly proven that students with better attendance records perform better in school and are more likely to graduate high school on time.

At the end of the second semester we will be sending out a personalized Attendance Summary to each student and family.  We recognize that there are a variety of reasons that students are absent and this summary will be for informational purposes only.

We appreciate your partnership in prioritizing regular school attendance.  Please reach out to your student’s counselor or visit this FCPS resource on Encouraging School Attendance if you need additional support.

Academic Advising Google Site

JMHS Student Services has Google Site for students and families to access more information about Academic Advising, including curriculum overview, graduation requirements, summer school information, Dual Enrollment information, and more. The video presentation with an overview of Academic Advising will also be posted on this site.  www.tinyurl.com/MADAdvising

Current Madison students will be meeting one-on-one with their school counselors to finalize their course selections on the following dates:

  • 10th Grade (Rising Juniors) – January 29 – February 7 (meetings through English 10 classes)
  • 11th Grade (Rising Seniors) – February 9 – February 27 (meetings through US History classes)
  • 9th Grade (Rising Sophomores) – February 28 – March 13 (meetings through PE 9)

Students will be notified of their specific date for a meeting through their Advisory on January 11. Students who are not taking these courses at Madison HS this year will be contacted by their counselor to schedule their Advising meeting.

Current 8th Grade Students (Rising 9th Grade) will participate in a presentation with JMHS counselors at their middle schools.

Winter Clothing Drive

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Madison High School/PTSA winter clothing drive in November and December. We are so grateful for our generous, thoughtful community. The students were thrilled with the donations. We had several specific student needs come up right before winter break for the following items: men’s size 13 winter boots, men’s size 13 sneakers, and men’s pants or sweatpants sizes 2XL, 3XL or 4XL.  If anyone might be interested in donating these new or gently-used items, please email Bethany Slingerland at bsslingerland@fcps.edu . Thank you to everyone in the Madison community for your support of our students!

Science Fair- Judges Needed!

Are you interested in being a judge for this year’s Madison Science Fair after school on Wednesday, February 7th?  If so, please fill out the interest form here.

The deadline for applying for testing accommodations for Spring 2024 AP exams is January 18, 2024. If a student already has been approved for College Board accommodations there is no need to apply again. Once instated, accommodations remain in place for all College Board testing (AP, SAT, PSAT).

To request new or amended College Board accommodations, please return the Consent Form to Mr. Bartram (jtbartram@fcps.edu) by January 18, 2024. If you have questions, contact your child’s counselor.

One School | One Community | One World

Madison High School strives to create and maintain an identity affirming learning environment where our students embrace, support, and encourage each other where multiple forms of identity (i.e. race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or disability) are recognized and regarded as assets for teaching and learning. We work to ensure school is a place where students feel safe and can be themselves. We do not tolerate hate speech, racist speech, bias, or acts of discrimination in our school. We want all students to feel a sense of belonging. We want to see all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to learning, growing, and building the best Madison High School for all our students. We are One School - One Community - One World.
