Attendance Matters at Dranesville

We would like to take a moment to extend our gratitude to each and every Dranesville family for leaning in as a community to establish daily attendance habits. While there are illnesses and circumstances that are sometimes beyond our control, we appreciate your care in making sure that your children attend school every day.

As a school community we continue to work together to increase student attendance and reduce the number of students who are chronically absent (missing 10% of the school year). We have had 85 days of learning and growing together this school year. On the 85th day of the 22-23 school year 23.9% of our students in K-6 were chronically absent (having missed 8 or more days of school). As of the 85th day of the 23-24 school year 10.7% of our students in K-6 were chronically absent (having missed 8 or more days of school). This improvement in attendance also supports improved access to daily instruction.

Thank you for all of your efforts in getting students to school each day, scheduling appointments so that students can participate in as much of their school day as possible, and for aligning vacations with school breaks.

In the event of illness or if there are any obstacles impacting your child’s attendance, please contact our Attendance Team . We are here to partner with you to remove obstacles so that your child is present and learning every day.

We are looking forward to sharing the joy of our upcoming 90th day of school raffle ($25 Lidl gift cards), second quarter attendance recognitions (perfect, outstanding, and improved), and the 100th day of school celebration (tentatively February 7th)!
