Administrator Avenue

Dear Bee Families,

Happy New Year to our wonderful school community! As we step into a brand-new year, let's embrace the possibilities and opportunities that lie ahead. May the coming months be filled with joy, laughter, and exciting learning experiences for our students. Together, let's continue to create a supportive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Here's to new friendships, inspiring discoveries, and a year filled with success for each member of our school family. Wishing you all a happy and prosperous New Year!

Coming to school every day is important for our elementary school family. When we all show up regularly, it makes our school a fun and welcoming place. Each student brings something special to our school, making it a wonderful and diverse group. Being here daily helps us make friends, get to know our teachers, and feel like we're part of something awesome. Plus, it helps us learn better and do well in our classes. If you need support building healthy attendance routines, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

As we celebrate a new year we want to express our gratitude to our amazing staff who play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our bees. Our dedicated teachers, office staff, custodial team, cafeteria workers, and support staff go above and beyond to create a positive and enriching learning environment. Their passion for education, commitment to our bee's success, and unwavering enthusiasm make HES truly exceptional. Each day, they bring creativity, patience, and a genuine love for teaching into the classrooms, ensuring that our bees not only receive quality education but also feel supported and encouraged to explore their potential. We are fortunate to have such a talented and caring team, and we want to extend our gratitude to them for their tireless efforts in making our school a place where every child can thrive. Thank you for entrusting your children to this incredible group of professionals.

Ensuring the health and well-being of our HES community is a shared responsibility. One simple yet powerful way to keep everyone healthy is by reinforcing the importance of handwashing. Encourage your child to wash their hands regularly, especially before meals and after using the restroom. This small habit goes a long way in preventing the spread of germs. Additionally, if your child is feeling unwell, it's crucial to keep them home from school. By doing so, you not only allow your child to rest and recover but also help prevent the potential spread of illness to classmates and staff. Your cooperation in promoting good hygiene practices and prioritizing the health of our school community is greatly appreciated. Together, we can create a safe and thriving environment for all our students. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Please help us celebrate our staff by filling out an FCPS Cares here.

As always, we are a team! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or compliments you may have.

Warmly,

The Herndon Elementary Administrative Team

FCPS Important Health Flyer
for Parents

When students miss too many days of school, they fall behind and struggle to keep up with their classmates. Whether the days missed are due to illness, truancy or for any other reason, the result for the student is the same
— learning time is lost.

This health flyer will help parents know when it's appropriate to send their students to school vs. keeping them at home.  Learn more here.
